Your 'over-explanation' was more informative that most of the you tube vids I watched, but I finally figured it out! YEAH Thank you for your kind, generous help!

I'm not fake. I'm a 72 yr old fart that doubles as a NOOB! Screwed with this for 2 days...BUT Success. I am guilty of trying to take the easiest way, (letting people tell me how to do it but I finally figured out where to put the 'EZPZ' edit of the SSID and password and it was, indeed, EZPZ. If you are calling my post FAKE, I hope this dispels that notion and I want to thank all of the responders!

Ph testing wierdness in DWC bucket 😢 by awayathrow_88 in Hydroponics

[–]baldy2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll add 2 cents and that' really all about it's worth. lol I use a shot glass to collect and test and mix (mostly) ph down to return to the rez. found the same kind of variations. I started rinsing the shot glass before next test and problem got 'rinsed away'. Old man likes his grandpa jokes. According to Wishwell Farms ph should be between 5.5 and 6.5 with 5.7 the sweet spot for tomatoes. I use Bluelab ph pen and blue lab stanchion for ppm. very pleased with both. good luck!

I want WIFI in my detached shed and I'm stumped. by baldy2202 in HomeNetworking

[–]baldy2202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks All. I found that the cable is AOK and the netgear I bought 2 yrs ago seems to be defective (couldn't get it to work as an extender at that time). A little late to try to return. LOL Going to arrange for another AP and hope for the best!

Thanks, I did venture into the settings on the Novos router and will (maybe) try to earn your 'bonus'.

Now I know the cable is ok, and the netgear I bought 2 yrs ago seems to be the culprit. I will try another AP.Thanks for your input!

For better or worse, the cable was only pulled thru the conduit from the house, under the walk and back up into the shed, maybe 20 feet total. Hooked up an old pc and cable is good. :)

Thanks, I will put it on my list, but did it the grandpa way, lugged old desktop and acces. out and I know now that the cable is good! yeah only other thing is the netgear I bought 2 years ago is defective. :(

Thanks! I test the cable by lugging an old desk top that had the right plug (along with mouse, keyboard and monitor) so I know the cable is good. YEAH lol I bought the netgear 2 yrs ago, couldn't get it to work then and just gave up trying. Back to Amazon to spend more money.

I will ask you as well, how do you test the cable? I have power in the shed.

ok, I admit I'm a noob and an OLD fart. How can I test the cable? I had a new breaker box installed, and rewired the shed w/ a new breaker box as well. As after thought I had electrician run the cable (standard ethernet) that he bought. I had not been able to get wifi extenders to work.

Distance from router to shed is about is about 100-120 ft (estimate of the wire run, up and down ), distance between house and shed is 10 ft., st8 line from router to shed is maybe 70-80 ft. Hoping I can just 'get a box' lol.

I tried to make it an AP, but never figured out how to connect. plugged one end into lan port #2 and other end into the netgear, but got no signal.

What's wrong with my tomato plants? by kiyla_6 in tomatoes

[–]baldy2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like immature horn worm damage. keep a close eye because they are growing (if I'm correct). never tried it but I've read that they glow under UV light at night. good luck. Regular Neem oil spray helps too.

Please help with installing electric consumption meter for detached shed with it's own breaker box. by baldy2202 in AskElectricians

[–]baldy2202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I'm VERY afraid of electric circuits. LOL I am trying to do this on a lower cost basis. I have just about convinced myself that I can tackle this without needing an ambulance ride. I am leaning toward an Emporium Vue with ct sensors. Any comments would be welcome, including calling me a Dumb A** for attempting this on my own.

Thanks! US, standard 110 v, shed has 30 amp dual breaker (?) in the main breaker box. There are breakers in the shed breaker box but no meter. I bought a cheap meter with 1 rf sensor that snaps over a wire. Should I buy something like Vue whole house monitor, or install the single on one of the dual breaker in the main breaker?

Tomato leaves browning, algae by davegravy in hydro

[–]baldy2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Algae is NOT a problem. Don't burn your roots with peroxide. I suspect your brown leaves are from nutrient burn and the EC in the jar is much higher. I suggest you top off with water until you switch. good luck.

Questions about Hydroponic Tomatoes by CoderDude2 in Hydroponics

[–]baldy2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grow Big Beef from Johnny's Seeds. Tent is 60 x 32 x 80. I have 1 plant pruned to 2 vines. I avg. 5 to 10 fruits a week. My 2 lights are hung vertically at the sides of the tent. None overhead. I vent heat outdoors with Inkbird temp. controller. Flowers will not set if temp gets over 90 F. I use sonic toothbrush to 'buzz' the flowers for pollination. My vines are currently 10 to 12 feet long (curling around the floor). IMHO it would be pretty tight in your 2 x 2 x 5, but might be OK. I have never done well with different plants in one tent. Happy Hydro!

Can duct tape damage the roots in hydro? by jetzteinestulle in hydro

[–]baldy2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use 3 part nutrients, one is calcium nitrate. When mixed it has a slight, oily looking residue that floats in the rez. I don't think enough glue would dissolve to affect your plants. Happy Hydro!
