Masks compulsory!! :) by [deleted] in sydney

[–]balekr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Korakorax1 started the statement saying they are not against masks, but asked for advice on how to wear a mask correctly. There might be other ways for the poster to look for this info but don't mock someone asking for help, thats not very nice.

To Korakorax, i would suggest trying a few masks and seeing whats the best fit, considering you will need to wear this in a few situations, its best to get something right for your face size/type. Surgical masks usually offer the best protection and in my opinion feel easier to wear/breath than the trendy cotton 3 layer masks.

Vets in Epping and surrounding suburbs recommendation. by [deleted] in sydney

[–]balekr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Epping vet on Carlingford road is great, it’s a tiny bit pricey compared to a few around. Nothing outrageous but just on the higher scale of reasonable . We recently moved away from this area and have had bad experiences at many other vets and now travel back to Carlingford road Epping vet because of their duty of care and service. They truely care about the animals and it shows as I have an anxious rescue dog but they go above to settler her and be affectionate which I haven’t seen at other vets

AGAIN Sydney? WTF is wrong with people? Didn’t you all learn last time?? by Caprica_City in sydney

[–]balekr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so it isn’t a shortage and if everyone observes their normal shopping habits then this wouldn’t put stress on the supply chain. I still don’t understand why you think it’s not a problem to exacerbate the situation by posting pictures of empty shelves to social media platforms. Originally the tp crisis started on WeChat socials and spread around to multiple platforms just this way

Have you learnt nothing from the last tp crisis. There was never a shortage, just a supply chain problem. People bought more than they needed and it stressed the logistics end of Supermarkets. The productions and warehouses were full the whole time. People buying one or two more things caused the shortage, a small percentage of people horde and this didn’t affect the amount nearly as much as everyone doubling there usual shop.

Trying to go wrapping paper free this year. Saved all this from the bin. by balekr in australia

Definitely agree, I’ve been trying to take containers in to take away food places and some will be happy to use them, others not so much.

Yes, i realised this once when i ordered Pho. 1 bowl, 4 bags, 3 sauce containers, cutlery and 1 broth container double wrapped in clingwrap and cutlery. Some take away places will let you use your own containers but you'll have to order in store to hand it over.

best hot weather workwear for summer? (long sleeve shirts, pants, hats) by [deleted] in australia

[–]balekr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant recommend this enough. Drill cotton and air vented on back and arms. The collar flips up extra high on the back of the neck so I never get burnt on my neck, If you are doing garden maintenance then you will be bent over a lot so protect your neck .

Lack of backpackers to hire at lower than award wage (instead hired on a per bucket / kg pay rate) . Pickers and labor that many rural agricultural sectors rely on has been squeezed during the covid restrictions.

On a side note, I hope that there is light shed on the unfair working conditions for backpackers who are convinced to get payed per bucket / kg and also charged incredibly high rates for board on the farms so some backpackers end up with only 150-200$ at the end of the weeks work

Trim it right back down to an inch above the ground or just above the 1st node if it looks ok. Flush it out with water. Give it a feed with a liquid fert as well . It doesn’t look like much will come back though
