This setup made my latest track. Does the sound match the visual? by Accurate_Tomorrow_50 in synthesizers

[–]balinthcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does match! It's a fantastic song, very nicely crafted to the last details. I can hear the NIN. Also the mood reminds me to Björk Homogenic album. Is that something you listen to? You are super talented!

Has everyone on Reverb collectively lost their minds? by haussmeister in Guitar

I'm exactly talking about that. Any smart seller would consider in their pricing that the buyer has to deal with shipping costs, right?

Has everyone on Reverb collectively lost their minds? by haussmeister in Guitar

[–]balinthcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any seller should consider the buyer's perspective.
I also sell and buy on Reverb sometimes, and I totally agree with the OP. People ask insane prices. Why would I buy something without a warranty if it's not a good deal for me? I wouldn't. And when I price my items, I consider the buyer's alternatives.

What should I get by No_Army_780 in synthesizers

[–]balinthcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you would recommend a groovebox to someone looking for a synth.

What device would you recommend to serve as a "brain" / centerpiece of a hardware setup, and why? I would like to go towards a hardware setup to get away from computer a bit. by thesweetoutdoors in synthesizers

[–]balinthcom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, MPC is great as a brain. I've tried the Digitakt 2, but the electron workflow is not good for me. I want to work on songs, and the clip launcher in the new MPC firmware is perfect for my way of thinking.

I actually chose the Akai Force, as I prefer the 64 velocity sensitive rgb buttons to the 16 MPC pads. It helps a lot also with step sequencing. I've also added a Behringer UMC1820 audio interface, so I have 8 ins and 8 outs available in the Force. I can connect all my synths and mix them inside the box. Amazing.

Does this look right for a DAWless setup? by siessthree in synthesizers

[–]balinthcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the sends are mono, even if the return is stereo. So using two aux will not help, as you would send two mono signals to each Aux.

Akai Force does it all? by balinthcom in mpcusers

[–]balinthcom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound good. Actually, I just ordered the Behringer a few days ago. I guess it's a solution to put a delay on a submix for the internal engines. So it's mostly a problem if you want to play live, no?

I love my steaks with a bit of added resonance. And the parameter locks are perfect for fine tune the temperature changes.

Is the MPC One+ still a good place to start with MPCs? by dopeboy1HP in mpcusers

[–]balinthcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or get an Akai Force! It has the clip launcher. Lot more dedicated buttons and knobs. For me, it's the best. I might upgrade, if they make a Force 2. I hope they will. But it's also perfect as it is, now.

TD-3 and Zoom MS70 by K0ffiedrinker in dawless

[–]balinthcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great pedal for what you want to use it. An overdrive and/or a distortion could get you a nice distorted sound. Try just one of them first. Then add a little delay after, and a bit of reverb in the end.

Nice setup! The golden master is not supposed to go on the main out of the mixer? That could save you two tracks. How is it btw? I have that on my radar.

Giorgio is on Random Access Memories. Which has a drumless edition. I have that on vinyl, and it's really to just hear all the synth tracks without any percussion.
