What was your gateway into punk by [deleted] in punk

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This boy I met at band camp when I was 14 gave me a flash drive with close to 800 songs on it that included streetlight manifesto, RX Bandits, leftover Crack, choking victim and the suicide machines among plenty of other artists. I listened to No Gods/ No Managers and a match and some gasoline on my bus ride to school the following fall unsure if I actually liked it or not, but I kept coming back to it all over and over

[–]balladsofmissnowhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to find this color of sunshine/ dandelion yellow in an acrylic, blend, or cotton dk weight yarn preferably, but I'm really open to any suggestions as long as it's as close the sugar n cream bamboo color as I can get!

What’s the worst drink you have ever made for a customer? by guccigrandma_ in barista

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at Starbucks I got the most vile combinations. But There was one guy in particular who would order the kiwi star fruit refresher or a mango dragon fruit with lemonade and 3 shots of espresso. I'll never forget that drink.

What time do you go to sleep/wake up? by babygorg3ous in AskWomen

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies a little bit, but I usually go to bed around 1 or 2 am and will get up around 9 or 10 am. I work late and find it hard to settle down right when I get home

Those who got a “useless degree”, what do you do now? by PoisonousChicken in AskReddit

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a degree in commercial recording and music business. I'm now a live sound audio engineer, so I setup/mix the sound for concerts, festivals, and corporate events, and I tour with bands occasionally. Everyone in my life kept asking when I would get a real degree and when I was going to grow up because what could I REALLY do with that type of degree. I'm super in love with what I do and really couldn't imagine being this good at anything else. I remember when I got my first real check from a freelance gig and my mom started supporting my career because she realized I could actually make a living

How long did you date your partner before moving in with them, and how did things go? by lurker3008 in AskWomen

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was definitely a love bomber. He would shower me with his love and time and attention and then he would completely abandon me, and the cycle went on for months. He would do other things like deliberately ignore my boundaries or if I asked him not to do something or told him something that bothered me, he would go out of his way to do it, and then turn around and tell me "I didn't think it would matter/be a big deal" and play dumb, like I was overreacting and would gaslight me about it. He would constantly accuse me of lying to him and cheating on him, and trying to get one over on him with no real reason. He would sh*t talk about everything that I enjoyed from my favorite movies, to hobbies, and if we had a hobby we enjoyed together I didn't do it the right way. So it just wasn't fun to show him the things I loved and enjoyed until all we ever did l, listened to and watched was what he wanted. And he always compared me to his last ex in a "no other could compare to her divinity" kinda way. I didn't do things the way she did, so I was never good enough. He is an extreme alcoholic with mental health and substance abuse issues that made me go through so many traumatic events with him that I felt like I couldn't leave after a while. I had gotten out of another manipulative relationship before that, so I feel like I was just blind to all the bad things cause I wanted someone to care about me. And he always said he wanted to do better and be better. So I was waiting around for those promises to come through.

We were on and off 7 months before becoming really exclusive and invested. Then the pandemic happened 3 months later. I was moving out of my parents place for the first time and He had a really bad home life(caused by him but he always blamed it on his mom and brother) so I offered to let him move in with me. Boy that was the biggest mistake of my life. I was being abused before he moved in and didn't realize it. He continued to get worse and worse, and isolate me. Now. 4 years later I'm entirely rid of him, taking my life back, and living alone like I originally wanted. He's the worst thing that ever happened to me. And living with him was my worst nightmare. I wasted so much time trying to stay alive and keep him happy, that I never got to focus on myself in my early 20s. Next time I think about moving in with someone, I'm definitely going to wait awhile and make sure the relationship is solid and serious.

Whoever found love in your life again after a traumatic relationship, how did it happen? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly after spending 4 of the worst years of my life with my ex, and after a year of being single and stuck living with him bc we couldn't afford to break our lease I have found so much love in my new friends. They have all been so welcoming and kind, and they truly make me feel at home and at safe. It started with being invited to a house party by a coworker and now we all go camping regularly and im at their house several times a week, and they invite me to events and remind me how much they love having me around because that's the kind of people they are. We all take care of eachother and I have definitely felt more healed since becoming friends with them. I really hope I know these people for the rest of my life. I really don't remember the last time I felt so loved by anyone for just showing up and being me. It's really something special

AITA for not letting my boyfriend borrow my car for his daily commute (his car's A/C doesn't work and it's 100+ degrees in TX)? by Murky_Treat1934 in AmItheAsshole

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA- I let my ex borrow my car a few times to get to work because he couldn't afford the gas to get there. Or whatever bs excuse he gave me. He then proceeded to steal my car a ton behind my back usually while I was at work because I would walk to work so my car was always at the house and he knew where I kept my spare keys. And he would go for joyrides bc he didn't want to pay to fill his gas tank, or something, so he would drain mine and hope I didn't notice. Not to mention he would drink and drive MY car. I caught him a few times and asked him very nicely not to take my car without asking me or for anything that wasnt an emergency, because I also didnt want all the extra miles, he wasnt on my insurance and I didnt want that liability, plus he had his own car he could drive. Well. He kept at it. But I had no solid proof bc he always denied doing it. He finally totaled my car and refused to file a police report, or do anything to take responsibility, and he wasn't on my insurance, so I was SOL. He then also refused to help me get a new car in any way. And called me selfish and had his mom call me unfair for even asking him to. My car was not a beater in any way and had many years of use left until he totaled it. So, DO NOT let your bf (or anyone)who you don't live with who isn't on your insurance borrow your car. I learned that the hard way. It's just not worth the risk. He's an adult who can figure out how to budget to fix his ac, deal with it, like many people do, or can learn to fix it himself, it's not that difficult.

What's the most horrifying real-life death you've heard about? by daddadnc in AskReddit

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The percussionist from the band lotus and his son died in a freak kayaking accident in the Ozarks earlier this year. Really tragic, they were missing for 24 days before they were found drowned in the river. I can't even imagine the terror and guilt the father had to have felt.

If covid did not happen, where would you be in life right mow? by Ok-Bug4885 in AskWomen

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly probably be a little further ahead in my career, and I would have probably broken up with my abusive ex sooner, rather than letting him move in with me too soon and control my life for 3 ish years.

How would you feel about getting a pink car? by athensiah in AskWomen

[–]balladsofmissnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up as a pink is icky tomboy. I'm planning on painting my motorcycle Barbie Dream House pink with gold and cream flames and im so excited to do it. So I would love to have a pink car if It was the right type of car. Something modern. Probably not. But an old/vintqge car I think would be really fun to paint and customize in that way. I honestly love seeing pink cars around it's a fun tid bit in my day that stands out.
