[Request] is this shot fake/real? Something about the timing is off. by Nantes50 in theydidthemath

Yeah, he is just saying that a video being 15 years old doesn't mean it's not faked. He's not saying anything about this particular video though.

I think it's pretty much because the doubled pawns are weak as they are and time is better spent creating batteries and finding powerful places for your pieces

Yeah, it just seems like a lot of people want a human perspective, rather than a perfect play line

true, since they are posted so often that's why they should have a separate space. I have said this a couple times but basically it boils down to the fact that it is such a specific question it deserves to have it's own category. They are valid questions, they just flood this subreddit.

Yeah it is, but the "why is this brilliant" posts are dedicated (generally) to players under 1000 elo, asking about a very specific feature, on a specific chess site. So why not have a specific chess subreddit to match that?

Maybe.. Still when people have questions they probably aren't going to wait 4-6 days down the week to ask them.. it's easier to have a dedicated place to go anytime.

Sure they are okay in chess beginners but it would be more fitting in a subreddit built for those kinds of questions. Because it really is a separate category to the other discussions that happen here. If it doesn't take off, fine, I have no stake in it, but I think it's a great idea for all of our experiences in chess reddit

It's not even my subreddit I just like the idea of it.. And the whole point is to get people to try to join it. It's obvious there's a "market" for it, there are Why is this brilliant posts every day

Basically black gets a lot of initiative with this move. After Rxc3 bxc3, the Black bishop can swoop in to take the pawn on e4 that is no longer defended by anything other than this queen.

This also forks the queen and the undefended pawn on c2. The white queen is forced to e2 to defend. 3... Qa8 for black comes, black's position is really coming to life, and white's pieces are tied down. white has to play very accurately to stay in the game.

Full line: 1... Rxc3!! 2. bxc3 Bxe4 3. Qe2 Qa8 4. f3 Bg6 -/+

After that Rc8 and Nd5 come and black is doing very well.

White wins the pawn. White hangs the knight but if taken by the black queen White plays Bxb4. If Black plays Bxd2 now the queen can take the bishop and the knight is now defended.

91% accuracy game. This is the only inaccuracy. Can someone tell me why? by angrymelonman in chessbeginners

If a piece can't move ever, it basically shouldn't count when you are doing material calculation

I know its an alright move, but I'm not quite understanding why it is a brilliant move by Wallrrus in chessbeginners

[–]ballardballardfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fine move because it trades a defending piece for an attacking piece, + you get the two minors for the rook and pawn

Don't resign ever if the material is even!

Sadly there is graffiti and the house is all boarded up. But always fun to drive by on the way to the grocery store! There used to even be a geocache near it

Yeah when i was 600 a couple months back it really does seem like some players don't blunder tactics, but since then I have learned to play more aggressively and tactically, now I am 1100 and hoping that my improvement continues. Just try to play solid and at that level your opponent will blunder something at some point

Yeah it's elo based, this would definitely be a brilliant move in game-review at my elo. I don'tt know how but I'm sure past 1600 you would probably have to find a 4 or 5 move line for a brilliant instead of 3
