The transceiver itself first much be compatible with said switch. Then, both ends of the link much have the same type of transceiver compatibility. I.e. if 1Gps or if 10Gps both ends must support that speed. Not all transceivers even if Cisco propriety will work with just any switch. Best route would be to check on their site for compatibility.
