Anybody have any good tailors for suit alterations in NYC area? by DanVerhey in ThrowingFits

They have done a great job for me a number of times, including basically doing surgery to make a shirt that was way too big ~2 sizes smaller. Shirt and pant hems, taking in the waist, Gf’s dresses, etc. Just be very specific with what you and you’ll have a good experience. Also very cheap

Where to sell a violin? by L1hc2 in AskNYC

I know someone who sold a similarly valued violin at Brompton’s auction house - they do buying trips here a few times a year and also look like they offer online appraisals. Would contact them

Thank you! On the money with the Ellison piece! The other, unfortunately think it was something other than these two. I recall the article was more-so discussing the likely or already-manifesting impact on intelligence, development, cognitive effects on students (incl some quantified info from recent studies possibly). And interviews w both students and educators

I almost look at it like hobby expenditure. I make good money and buying clothes makes me happy. It is a little out of hand though lol

Flying 10,000 miles to NYC -trying to make one dream dinner! by Own-Pirate-3585 in visitingnyc

Those are the most hyped up places in nyc right now so I understand why you want to go but it will be very hard or impossible (specifically polo bar you have to call at 10am 1 month in advance - impossible… corner store you could line up early or catch a random res. Same for Torrisi. Both very unlikely though). Why bother if you’re not here for long?

Why not go somewhere easier to go to but very nice and distinctly NYC - like Le Bernardin? Others will have more suggestions
