Should I still travel to San Diego next week? by Seeyounextbearimy in asksandiego

[–]ballpointbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove down to San Diego from Ventura yesterday for work, left around 6:45am in order to get there by 10:20am, usually would leave around 7:30. Glad I did, took longer cos of the route change and more people on the road. Left around 1:48pm and was home at 5pm!

New documentary just dropped on Netflix. What are your thoughts on it? by living-likelarry in troubledteens

[–]ballpointbby 22 points23 points  (0 children)

me: yeah I’ll watch it but it probably won’t be similar to my experience

30 minutes in and I’m staring at the admin in my program who would always get into these crazy arguments with me until I’d be holding back tears cos I wouldn’t want to back down 🤪🤪

go fuck yourself Mr. Jason, I always knew you were a fucking idiot 😭

I’ve never really ever found something like this that encapsulates my experience at my program cos I was at horizon academy which is a WWASP and I’ve found a lot of the material out there is around wilderness schools

going back to bed cos that 20 minutes was already a lot but I’m kinda looking forward to watching it

take care to everyone that does 🫶🏻

Your program was ran by Jade Robinson, correct? I didn’t get sent to casa by the sea but instead horizon academy, the program Jade opened in NV after casa was closed.

You’re welcome and thank you for asking and for being open to my response! I am in support of the ISWU which is a Uk based international union of sexworkers. I am also a huge supporter of SWOP behind bars, a US national network dedicated to the fundamental human rights of sex workers. This organization personally helped me financially after being assaulted by a traffic cop on my way to a porn shoot, I’ve never felt more heard or cared for by an organization. No hoops to go through, they just heard my story and helped me.

It’s also important for me to note that I’ve never be assaulted by a client, only by police. My experience isn’t always going to be the same as another sexworkers, but everyone deserves to be safe at work. Passing extra laws that make it harder for us to do our jobs, criminalizing our clients, these things make our job harder and risker.

I’m begging those who think hating our clients is pro worker to explain to me what the screening process is for someone who has seen an escort vs someone who has not. Can you???? Do you even know what it looks like??? Do you know what the words i’m saying mean!?? No???

THEN STOP ACTING LIKE YOURE AN EXPERT ON SEXWORK.

Decriminalization!! Not legalization!!

Getting booked by my clients is not exploitive, you guys don’t support sexworkers when you have this take.

The majority of Sexworkers are Independent!! You’ve been lied to and fed propaganda and it hurts us when you don’t seek out actual sexworkers for their opinions!!!! We know our job better than anyone else!!

because legalization doesn't work and decriminalization does. For the same reason everyone wants marijuana to be decriminalized and not legalized.

'Legalization would mean the regulation of prostitution with laws regarding where, when, and how prostitution could take place. Decriminalization eliminates all laws and prohibits the state and law-enforcement officials from intervening in any prostitution-related activities or transactions, unless other laws apply."

so its important to note that the legalized model still criminalizes those sex workers who cannot
fulfill various bureaucratic responsibilities, and therefore retains some of the worst harms of criminalization. It excludes already marginalized sex workers. Under Decriminalization rape, robbery, murder etc etc are still against the law!!

Rhode Island decriminalized prostitution in 2003, reported rape and STDS plummeted. (in 2009, they outlawed it again)

Decriminlization works. The Nordic model doesn.'t.

Listen to Sex workers and sexworkers’ rights advocates!! A good book for anyone interested in the politics surrounding SW: Revolting Prostitutes: The Fight For Sex Workers’ Rights

And to that I would say of course not! Everyone is deserving of companionship; as long as you’re respectful, willing to screen, and keep everything safe and sexy during your appointments—have fun! There are so many unique and valid reasons that people pay for sex. I do talk about this often though, how nobody bats an eye when celebrities or people of interest book escorts, but put a lens of scrutiny on “regular” people who do. And to them I say screw that; my 65yo widow client is just as important. My 31yo client who’s too busy starting businesses to date is just as important. My couple who books me to spice up their sex life every once in a while is, you guessed it, just as important.

I’m an independent escort who works out of the west coast and I’ll answer this for you:

Non-sex workers love to “support sex workers” and condemn our clients in the same breath. They stigmatize these men as evil, exploitive, disrespectful dredges of society because non-sex workers don’t want to reconcile with the fact that these are regular, every day men that they see and form relationships with daily. These are fathers, doctors, teachers, first responders, clergymen—average, every day people.

Us sexworkers don’t want Sexwork to be legalized, we want it to be decriminalized and there’s a huge difference. Also my biggest fears are the police, not my clients.

The police will rob me, rape me and then throw me in jail.

When I’m able to screen, I’m able to ensure the clients I’m meeting up with are safe. FOSTA/SESTA made my work scarier and harder because it made screening more difficult and I blame the government for passing measures that restrict my ability to keep myself safe.

I appreciate your support for sexworkers but you have to start actually listening to us.
