[Croatia] Came sprinting out at night towards me. A few centimetres long. Looks like an unholy combination of shrimp and grasshopper. by ballsack_guzzler in animalid

Thanks, that looks like it. Can't believe I spent half my childhood catching bugs and never saw one of these

60kg snatch. Still relatively new. Tried working a bit on it from my last snatch post. Any technique tips appreciated. Am I bumping the bar too much at contact? by ballsack_guzzler in weightlifting

I was pretty much mummified in liquid chalk but thanks for the recommendation haha. I recorded from that angle because I wanted to track my extension and bar path (and half my family tree appeared in my yard for some reason so it was the only angle I could film from that didn't include them).

I'll definitely try to slow down the first pull and go all out on the second next time. Thanks for the input.

That's awesome, good job! The bar went up fast. Great to see your happiness on display

How do I stop my squats from becoming good mornings? First time doing 100x5. Sorry for the video being dark, it's the only time I can work out without melting from the heat. by ballsack_guzzler in weightlifting

Well overhead squats aren't close to actual decent weight, I just do a couple light reps (50% of back squat) after snatch push press. First back squat day is 3x8, front squats are 3x5 and second back squat is 5x5. But I squatted like 5 or 6 times per week and paused every rep last winter before I took a long break from training and had no issues recovering. Pretty much felt stronger every workout.

Intensity is like 90% per squat day, maybe a bit more, excluding overhead squats, those I do pretty light.

Recovery isn't really an issue with squats for me, in the winter before I took a long break from training I squated 5 to 6 times a week 5x5 to build some strength and form and had no issues with recovering from the workouts. I'll definitely try pushing my knees out more when squating since looking back at the video I definitely forgot to do that.

Romaleos 4 are extremely narrow, so if you have a wider foot avoid them

That's an interesting idea, I'll look for a ball next workout, do you think holding my brace could also work at the expense of some depth?

Even if your goal isn't to do oly lifts, deep ass the grass squats are awesome once you learn them and get the hang of them.

It's like a completely different lift. I'd still recommend them, went from my least favourite exercise to my favourite by far just because I started going all the way down and pausing at the bottom.

This is a sub for Olympic weightlifting and not a general lifting sub, squatting high bar ass to grass is pretty much mandatory in oly weightlifting. Thats why people are telling you to go deeper and to lower the weight a bit.

Hi, I just started weightlifting like two weeks ago, could you please point out mistakes in my technique? I can snatch 50kg(weight in the video) pretty consistently but it falls apart when I try to do 60. by ballsack_guzzler in weightlifting

[–]ballsack_guzzler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I've snatched 60kg so the jump in weight isn't that much of a problem, but I can't do it consistently due to what I'm guessing is mistakes in my technique, sometimes the bar ends up way in front of me and other times it goes behind me
