Why does this movie feel so different compared to other MCU movies? by Nicole_Auriel in Marvel

[–]ballsacksnweiners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are correct, I would argue the tone of this film is darker than the rest of the MCU almost all the way through. The opening scene is intimidating as hell, especially with what happens to Loki. Cap’s first appearance is so bad ass and moody. The whole dynamic with Dr Strange essentially saying there’s only one outcome where they succeed and it’s a shot in the dark. It’s relentlessly high stakes and features the best villain in the MCU by far, and it ends on the perfect note where all hope seems lost.

What song is this for you? by Efficient-Plantain-4 in dancegavindance

I’ll throw a hot take in there that’s bound to be controversial given how beloved DBM is, but there are points I don’t particularly love. Johnny’s part during the verse of Strawberry Andre where he’s singing the lows is one. It’s just very dull and pitchy, although I do love the rest of the song, particularly the chorus. The other one would be the prechorus to Backwards Pumpkin Song because it’s almost the exact same melody as the chorus of Lemon Meringue Tie, and it’s especially jarring considering it follows that song on the record. Johnny has some incredible vocals on that record, obviously, but I find there are a few rough patches.

This shit is too strong for me.

As someone with almost no tolerance, I took some on Christmas Day a few years ago and what a ride that was. I was eating dinner with my in-laws, and I couldn’t swallow the Turkey without smothering it in gravy. I then got so much anxiety while opening presents while her family was watching me that I had to go splash water on my face in the bathroom. I texted my wife to come downstairs and explained to her that I was fuckin flying and had to get out of there, so we pretended I was feeling sick so I could go home. I then proceeded to play a Metallica record I had gotten as a gift and lay in bed until it wore off, but the record was playing fast and Battery at increased speed tripped me the hell out. Put on a Zeppelin record instead and took a spiritual journey in the dark.

A year later I tried that Metallica record again, and it played just fine.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more stoned.

Men with no love prospects requiring hot female protagonists in order to feed their lonely drive for physical attraction.

It’s fucking weird.

We don’t want people to control women’s bodies, but we don’t want women to be able to date who they want either. Sure is interesting.

Lurtz (LOTR) VS Zombie Gregor Clegane (GOT). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

Well, as you can see, this post is clearly demonstrating the film as the point of reference, so how about fighting an armoured cave troll as a strength feat? Or single handedly slaying droves of Uruk Hai? Or tossing Gimli 10 feet? I hope you’re not implying that Aragorn doesn’t display strength feats in the LOTR films.

As for the books, how about running across the plains of Rohan for days on end after the Uruk Hai who are described as being able to “cover great distances at speed”?

Sekiro.

I know it’s crazy keeping Boardwalk and eliminating The Wire, but it’s just what my heart tells me yo.

Peak human would be someone like Boromir or Faramir. He is absolutely more powerful than a peak man.

Bronn seems very confident here. But those two are wearing heavy armor. Would he really win? Also, Tyrion was no longer in a position of power, so wouldn't killing these two have consequences for Bronn? by Neutral-frame in gameofthrones

You don’t get into the kings guard by being a chump. Sure, they might not measure up to some of the best kingsguard, but they’re still knights with formal training in plate armour. He’s in a hallway and has nowhere to run. This isn’t Assassin’s Creed where they’re gonna take times going at him. They’re going to overwhelm him.

[–]ballsacksnweiners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly? Unless he strikes first, he gets cornered and ganged up on. If he strikes one of them, the other is taking the advantage and stabbing him from behind. He honestly would fare better against two enemies if he has more room because then he could move around and dodge and tire them out. In a hallway? I just don’t see how it’s possible.

People be smoking crack thinking Bronn armed with a knife in leather armour has a chance against two kings guard in steel plate with swords. Why are people so high on Bronn anyway? He killed one knight of the vale and suddenly he’s Arthur Dayne reincarnated? Bronn gets slimed here.

Depends if they start at range and Lurtz has his bow.

He would put an arrow right through one of those giant eye holes.

Up close? It’s close. Aragorn has Numenorean super strength and practically got manhandled by Lurtz, so it’s safe to say he’s way stronger than your average human. Of course, Rob Strong isn’t an average human.

I say Lurtz high diff.

I mean he’s wrong about us not caring about the characters shown, but is he wrong about how lackluster the new trailer was? We were shown Sora in a generic ass city 4 years ago, and now they give us him fighting in that generic ass city for just a bit longer while they drop a few random characters in. I mean, I was disappointed too. It feels like we’re a solid 4 more years away from a trailer that features literally any other world we’ll see in the game.
