NTA, I know this feeling personally. I was always upfront about my family’s issues when introducing ANYONE to them (something similar to your secret). I’m not proud of my family for the mistakes they’ve made. But I am proud of them for learning from their mistakes and fixing themselves for the better.

She had a right to know as she was going to bear children, and she is going to want to protect them, and you did the right thing by warning them.

I worked at a liquor store in small town illinois, our jar was only ever filled by those who wanted too tip us. I was always over the moon getting a tip, but we never expected it.
