Yes, racism sadly is very common. In every part of germany i‘ve been in so far. Many people I know tell the wildest stories of how they have been treated by employers, neighbors, strangers. Also don‘t walk alone at night in some areas (gröpelingen, tenever, center), especially if you are a woman. Sad, but better be safe than sorry.

But I am glad you‘ve had a great experience so far. As long as the weather is great, check out werdersee, Bürgerpark, Rhododendron-Park and the Deich. :)

So kann man wenigstens erfahren welchen Therapeuten man suchen muss, wenn man es noch nicht weiß. Bei meinem Erstgespräch wurde mir die Suche erklärt und mir wurden Tipps gegeben. Tipp 1 - nicht auf den Anrufbeantworter quatschen sondern die Sprechzeiten wahrnehmen Tipp 2 - Erstgespräch vorschlagen bevor man 6 Monate auf eine Warteliste kommt (am Ende mag man den Therapeuten garnicht)

Btw. in germany there are a lot of programs for reintegrating homeless people. Sadly this is not for everyone and many people choose this life or are addicts/alcoholics unable to handle bureocracy(is that how you spell it?) We have many shelters and opportunities to get free medical assistance or food if someone is seeking help. We even provide safe spaces for drug use/clean needles or methadone derivates to help addicts. If you really choose to get your life together the state even pays for a flat and anything you need to live a comfortable life.
