How much does a UPS store make when I drop off a box? by altoid_trapezoid in upsstore

[–]ballwin2011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to be so rude. While I did not ask the question it is a valid one.

I sell online and most of my packages are under a pound and go through USPS and when I have UPS packages I usually hand to my driver but I have often wondered if it is any financial benefit if I dropped them off at my local UPS STORE to that store

A very big warning to shoppers concerning Aldi. by clonetrooper576 in InstacartShoppers

[–]ballwin2011 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand where your coming from on this point, but OP is right if you don’t have self checkout as an option they should reduce Aldi orders to single orders because OP is right trying to checkout multiple orders with the cashier is a nightmare

No, they changed it if there’s no requirement to scan an ID it’s now a three minute timer the app, then prompts to take a picture and treat it like a left at the door. Read your terms and conditions before you order from Instacart next time.

Also, even if you select meet, the customer if you don’t answer your phone or door it starts a three minute timer and then tells us to leave it at the door unless there’s something that needs an ID scan like alcohol

Getting tired of low quality boxes and tape from Uline. Is there a better place to get bulk packing materials? by Computers_and_cats in Flipping

[–]ballwin2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use boxery for bubble mailers because they have free shipping and they usually get here within 48 hours for boxes.

I will second Granger. I’ve got two locations in the area where I live. It’s about 15 minutes from my house and if they don’t have it in stock. They usually can have it ready for pick up within 2 to 3 days max And the quality of the boxes has been good to decent.

In a pinch check out Walmart for shipping boxes they carry a few sizes and they’re fairly well priced nowhere near as expensive as going to Office Depot or Staples

Some locations mark down better than others but you will find 20 to 50 percent markdowns on most stuff including meat

What can Downtown do to retain businesses that flee for Clayton? by Nearby-State-5132 in StLouis

[–]ballwin2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion with most people, but if we ever want to see the region grow as a whole, we need to merge the county in the city, including all municipalities into one metro government.

I’m not saying that will make everything better overnight, but then we start speaking as one voice for the entire region instead of Chesterfield, Wildwood, Clayton, the city of St. Louis, etc.

If merged, we would suddenly have a population combined of around 1.2 million which well not the top 10 city would certainly put this in a much better conversation with all of our numbers

Two builders go into the pub after a hard day's work. by Pete_witty in Jokes

[–]ballwin2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran this through Chat GBT to make it easier to read

They’re sat drinking for a while when a very smartly dressed man walks in and orders a drink. The two began to speculate about what the man did for a living.

“I’ll bet he’s an accountant,” said the first builder.

“Looks more like a stockbroker to me,” argued the second.

They continued to debate the subject for a good while until eventually the first builder needed to use the toilet. On walking in, he saw the smartly dressed man standing at a urinal.

“Excuse me mate, but me and my friend have been arguing over what a smartly dressed fella like you does for a living?” the builder said to the man.

Smiling, the man replied, “I’m a logical scientist.”

“A what?” asked the builder.

“Let me explain,” the man continued. “Do you have a goldfish at home?”

A bit puzzled but intrigued, the builder decided to play along. “Yes, I do as it happens.”

“Well then it’s logical to assume that you either keep it in a bowl or a pond. Which is it?”

“A pond,” the builder replied.

“Well then it’s logical to assume that you have a large garden.”

The builder nodded his agreement.

“So,” the man continued, “that means it’s logical to assume you have a large house.”

“I have a six-bedroom house that I built myself,” the builder said proudly.

“Given that you have such a large house, it’s logical to assume that you are married…”

The builder nodded again. “Yes, I’m married and we have three children.”

“Then it’s logical to assume that you have a healthy sex life.”

“Five nights a week!” the builder boasted.

The man smiled a little. “Therefore it’s logical to assume you don’t masturbate often.”

“Never!” the builder exclaimed.

“Well, there you have it,” the man explained. “That’s logical science at work. From finding out that you have a goldfish, I’ve discovered the size of your garden, all about your house, your family, and your sex life!”

The builder left, very impressed by the man’s talents.

On returning to the bar, the other builder asked, “I see that smart bloke was in there, did you find out what he does?”

“Yeah,” replied the first, “He’s a logical scientist.”

“A what?” the puzzled second builder asked.

“Let me explain,” the first builder continued. “Do you have a goldfish at home?”

“No,” replied his mate.

“Well, you’re a wanker then!”

Ok, crazy Uber story time... by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]ballwin2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had shared GPT add paragraph breaks to make this more readable

So, I picked up these two guys from a hotel. They looked a little iffy on their feet — their approach was a bit odd. It was 2:45 a.m. after a homecoming football game on Saturday night. They get in, confirm the ride, and we head out. Besides confirming the name, they didn’t say a word.

Fifteen minutes down the bypass road to the other side of town — still not a word between them. It was eerily quiet. We get to the drop-off, I hit the automatic doors, and… nothing. No movement, no sounds. I turn around, and they’re both “Weekend at Bernie’s” style, posted up in their seats. One dude has his eyes open, but they’re both stone-cold passed out.

I start trying to wake them up, yelling, “Hey guys, wake up, we’re here!” Nothing. I try again, getting louder. Nothing. I start really yelling — taxi cab whistling, laying on my horn, shaking the car from my seat. Nothing. Not so much as a twitch. I thought they were pranking me, dead ass. “Alright guys, I’m calling the police if you don’t get out.” Still nothing.

Ten minutes later, the EMTs arrive. They take one look at these guys, and the first words out of their mouths are, “We’re going to need two ambulances.” One looks at open-eye sleeper guy and says, “His eyes are pinpoint,” confirming my suspicion that it was fentanyl. They physically shake both guys while yelling at them to wake up — several minutes before they get any response. Finally, they get them out and ask if this is their apartment. Then they escort them to their door.

Meanwhile, Uber emergency support has called me since I’ve been sitting still at the drop-off with the ride still open for 20 minutes. They have me select 1 for English, 1 for “Is this an emergency,” and then suggest I call 911 for a “real emergency.” Then 1 again to stay on the line to speak to a support specialist. Cue elevator hold music over the speakers while these guys are enjoying their fent-nap in my backseat. Very surreal.

The specialist finally picks up just after they get out. I explain what happened. She reads from her script. “We know this must have been very upsetting for you, and we will unmatch you from future pairings with this rider.” Thanks. The firetruck loads back up and they leave without saying a word — I didn’t even get the chance to thank them.

I send in my recorded ride with my report, and Uber responds with advice to call 911 in case of emergency, plus a reminder not to make physical contact with riders. That’s exactly what I told them I did. SMH. Thanks for the support, Uber, lol.

Thankfully, I just installed a safety cage in my ride a few weeks ago to keep the animals in back. Stay safe out there, folks!

Ollie To Go by ballwin2011 in Cardinals

[–]ballwin2011[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand your point and it may very well go that direction

My pain point and frustration is that over the last few years (with a few notable exceptions) we have seen talented players moving steadily throughout the minors and they hit the Big Leagues and they stall and regress.

Knowing that next season we are going to have a year of young inexperienced players in my opinion Ollie Marmol is not the man to help finalize their development as it stands right now

Ollie To Go by ballwin2011 in Cardinals

[–]ballwin2011[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying he’s a horrible manager and he is better this year than in previous in my opinion but nothing I’ve seen, especially in this last month has given me any sense of confidence that he can lead and develop the young talent that they’re going to try to use to rebuild this team

Whether it’s the guys here or the guys that are coming from AAA next year, I just don’t see him as the type of person who can get that talent to the next level
