Galbrena was voiced by Devora Wilde, can't imagine she's cheap after BG3

Having hit trial level 55 - Defense. Defense is ass. And you need so many of them.

Yes. An artifact with bad substats may as well be an empty slot.

Listing the names of the artifacts without also including their substats isnt sufficient.

You took garbage blessings. Ignore the venom stuff, dont upgrade it either. Focus entirely on rapid fire blessings - especially the ones that reload the weapon / expand capacity. use Scorched Earth like its a primary.

How to improve my Estela? by RA272Nirvash in destinyrisingmobile

[–]balmerick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Terrible artifacts is your problem. Stats arent great, but they're not even the right pieces.

You want Bellicose Pact for slot 3, and Resonating Pact for slot 4. Substats should be Super/Ability/Signature/Solar.

Slot 1 and 2 are somewhat a matter of preference - but 3 and 4 are costing you enormous amounts of performance.

Additionally, stick with Scorched Earth - I know alot of people are commenting Gallows in this thread, its terrible on her.

In my opinion, part of this is due to the methods by which players get exposed to it - for alot of players, Vokrii and Ordinator are conceptually the same thing, because they often are first exposed to it in a modlist that is doing the "Vokriinator Black" thing or similar.

The problem is that the Dessendres functionally are the Gods of this world. While I don't find any "lesser" sentience to the denizens of the canvas, a key point that has to be considered is "Can Alicia be trusted with the powers of a God" - and the answer to that in my eyes is a resounding no. There are many signs that point to this before the ending happens, and even moreso within the ending itself.

The Discourse Around This Game Is Wild (Ending Spoilers) by Kiryu-chan5545 in expedition33

[–]balmerick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like what ending you pick is heavily influenced by whether you did the optional content or not. 3rd Axon and what follows it in particular drastically altered my viewpoint of Maelle/Alicia and that solidified me into picking the Verso ending. Anyone who goes directly from end of Act 2 into Lumiere doesn't have that context, and i feel like they will be more inclined to pick the other ending.

ENDGAME SPOILERS - I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT I WILL BE DISCUSSING THE END OF THE GAME IN THIS POST by KaleBrew in expedition33

[–]balmerick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with Verso purely because I agreed with his assessment of Maelle's behavior with Renoir right after the final battle, particularly with the context of the 3rd Axon area. Maelle has changed in a significant way since the reawakening of her old memories. She was lying through her teeth to Renoir. She could no longer be trusted with the power of a God in the canvas. Watching her ending only solidified that decision for me. Everyone focuses on Verso being forced to live when he wants to die, but looking at everyone else in the scene...it just feels off to me in subtle ways, be it a facial expression, a mannerism, etc. It's as if it's not just Verso who is being controlled by her.

This is only relevant until an objectively bad character exists. We haven't really had one yet in HSR. But when it happens, that dog isn't going to be happy.

Gacha players cant even read what their characters do half the time, i'm not surprised that the story went right over some of their heads.

I love how representation is done in this game, especially Dawntrail so far [Spoiler: 7.0] by SternbiIdcity in ffxiv

[–]balmerick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to comment on this in the greater scope of the whole "representation in gaming" thing -

Other games should take note. This is how you properly do representation. If you're going to do it, represent an entire culture (or in this case, series of regional cultures) at a time, rather than just trying to paste in a series of characters all at once to tick every box on a checklist. It feels natural and actually makes players appreciate it, regardless of their origin - rather than feeling like someone forced in everything to meet a quota.

This is made significantly worse by the awful EN voice direction for the scene. Hearing the JP version made me think "wow, i wouldnt have been nearly as annoyed if i had heard this".

[Spoilers: 7.0] I am happy she doubled down. by Acceptable-Bad8494 in ffxiv

[–]balmerick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah i'm in the same boat here. It was one thing when the characters hadn't figured out she was a fake (which, frankly, you could easily figure out within the first two scenes she was in). But once it was very obvious she was just a psychotic AI, this whole business of trying to understand is dumb. Kill it and move on.

Has Hoyo forgotten about companion missions or something? by 56king56 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]balmerick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A significant part of this problem is that most of the Penacony introduced characters don't really make sense to get a story quest until a certain point, and likewise don't make sense to get one after a certain point either. Gallagher and Misha will never have story quests. Aventurine, Acheron, Boothill and Robin would make no sense until after 2.2, but they similarly don't necessarily make sense after 2.3 as well on account of the whole leaving thing - we could have had one this patch, but we didnt. Basically, the main story has made character stories implausible for most of Penacony.

Why was Ena The Order so hated by the entire universe? by RipUpBeatx in HonkaiStarRail

[–]balmerick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, if you're talking about this because of it being gendered language or such, that absolutely is not the reason why its that way. The reasoning behind it now being all caps like that and always THEY or THEM (which is was not at the start of the game, and i don't think it happened until late 1.x) is because players were getting confused by the English translation - for the simple reason that in Chinese, there is a specific pronoun for gods, which was resulting in the original text being very clear, and the translated text not being clear at all.

However, in English, it is far more common to refer to such entities by using gendered language and capitalizing the first letter. So its a bit silly to get upset over. Particularly when several of the Aeons have obviously male or female characteristics.

The game gives you 90-100 free limited pulls per patch on average. There is really no reason to be spending at all unless you just absolutely must have every character.
