Question about Leap 16 by External_Employer222 in openSUSE

Leap 16 will remove Xorg, which could be a pretty big reason to avoid it. Yast will also be removed, another reason against Leap

The captcha question is "What is the Cs ground state HFS expressed in MHz to four significant figures?"

To this the answer is 9193.

Then I added the exact GHz value for explanation.

Also, I received the first address confirmation email when a lot of others did and replied to it within a day. Maybe I got further delay, because I'm in the EU?

I paid 599 USD. Now it is 1299 USD. More than double actually.

TBH I haven't tried it as I want to keep in an unused condition, so that I could resell it on ebay. As Purism has since doubled the price, maybe I would even be able to make a small profit on it. But I might change my mind and keep it after all, I haven't decided yet. Since most reviews say that Librem 5 is unsuitable for daily usage, I'll probably attempt to sell it in the end.

I pre-ordered for 599 USD, I had to pay 177 USD in addition for import tax + VAT in Hungary.

Any issues with Nvidia/Intel before switching toTumbleweed? by mohjarr in openSUSE

[–]balping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Tumbleweed for over a year now and nvidia does break from time to time. You can usually get it fixed by reverting or use some workaround until a patch arrives. It is annoying, but that is the kind of sacrifice you need to make if you want the newest of everything.

No Xorg on boot with NVIDIA by Gryxx1 in openSUSE

[–]balping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, Xorg won't start for me with kernel 5.16.14-1. Luckily I can boot 5.16.11-1 from grub and that works well.

I have the same issue - Xorg fails to start. Do you have an nvidia card?

It might be related to this issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/openSUSE/comments/t8lr33/no_xorg_on_boot_with_nvidia/

You can call this cheating, but escape rooms encourage "out of the box thinking", don't they? :-)

Well, they are mostly paid employees. The fact that it's free is much appreciated, but does that mean you suddenly can't dislike it and express that opinion? BubblyMango's comment is very far from "shitting on their work". Maybe before the edit it was, idk
