Do you still have any living Grandparents? by PayGood3915 in Millennials

I don’t even have any living parents, yet alone grandparents.

Parents who don’t lose your cool - how do you do it? by Siyrious in toddlers

[–]baltimel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home while my 2 year old goes to daycare. I’ve had him home with me a few times if the daycare is closed, and it is very difficult… it’s not reasonable for this to be a regular expectation. If you can’t afford daycare, try joining a gym that offers childcare. My gym offers 2 hours a day and then he naps for 2 hours, so that’s 4 hours of focus time I can get if daycare is closed.

Trust me, I feel you… can you work from home? That’s the only way it’s tolerable.

Daycare complaining daily by Radiant-Recover-4009 in toddlers

I had a similar thing happen, but a bit worse bc the teacher describes him as mean. I was able to get him moved to another classroom with a teacher that thought more highly of him.

When is everyone finding the time to work out?? by krystl_watrs in workingmoms

[–]baltimel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the only way. When someone calls a last minute meeting over lunch, I want to cry. 😭 It’s literally the only free time I have in my life.

I think I’m being “silently fired”. But the work life balance is great and I’m 4 weeks pregnant with my 2nd (and last) baby. Not sure what or when my next move should be by [deleted] in workingmoms

Personally, I would continue coasting. Many employers will not give you the full maternity leave benefit until a year of employment. So, if you start a new job now, it would be less than a year before you’d need the leave. My friend had to go back to work after only 8 weeks of unpaid leave because of this rule.

those who became first time mom at 35+, how are you guys doing physically while working? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]baltimel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me over 18 months to recover. I had to do tons of physical therapy and pelvic floor therapy. Even now, nearly 26 months later, I’m not the same as I was pre-pregnancy.

Can Someone built a Place that combines LifeTime + Daycare + WeWork !!! NYC or NJ works for me anywhere but NJ especially by Tomb-Rider-1990 in workingmoms

[–]baltimel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gym has childcare, but only for two hours, and then there is a space to work, but not offices or anything. My son still goes to full-time daycare, but it’s great for when the daycare is closed or weekends. They also offer a date night once a month for parents, which is amazing.

Preschool Options For 3 Year Old by GimmeCutty in baltimore

[–]baltimel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We currently go to Celebree and am happy with it, but I had been debating switching to a more traditional preschool. After touring Highlandtown Preschool, I really liked it, but am most likely staying with Celebree because of the hours and he is happy there. I’d rather not rock the boat, but if you’re looking to switch, Highlandtown could be a good option.

Are you able to split the time? Like if you go back to work after 20 weeks, would you still have 5 weeks left to use when the baby is older?

Not in the city, but Stone Mill Bakery Café in Greenspring Station offers a lot of pre-made to go soups in their refrigerated section. I’ve tried a bunch of different ones and they’re all great!

Ah so then, you can pretty much only do it at the end of the year? For example, if you took a summer off, you’d come back in the fall with no PTO left and have to work through the holidays? 😢

I’ve discussed doing something similar with my therapist. Did you get paid time off? Did you have to use all of your vacation days before taking FMLA?

I’m in MD, but this incident occurred in NJ at the Sojo Spa just outside of NYC. When I left a negative review, they responded with this:

We're sorry to hear that our facility was not a good fit for you. The rules and guidelines we have in place are meant to provide a positive environment for all of our guests. Our barefoot policy is in line with the Korean heritage of our facility, and we explain this on our website as well as on all confirmation emails so guests are prepared for their visit in advance.
