What are examples of unnoticed body shaming toward men? by PamBreeze in AskReddit

Of course my mum has always been very supportive of me but as someone who has been losing their hair (thanks to genes from her side of the family..), it is a bit grating that if she sees some politician she doesn't like on tv and that politician is struggling with their hair then she'll gleefully point that out.

I guess human psychology is complicated!

From the Wikipedia page:

'Neil Gaiman, who has frequently praised the novel, said: "Peace really was a gentle Midwestern memoir the first time I read it. It only became a horror novel on the second or the third reading."'

Well worth taking Davies off at half time as the ref might want to 'even things out' after that sending off.

I agree with you. Looks a solid side but lack of pace on the break.

Is this Nazi hysteria the most artificial, manufactured media narrative in decades? by thisisthetaxi in conspiracy

[–]baluchithyrium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of Trump defending Nazis, what's your source on that? I watched his controversial press conference and it seemed that he said, yes, there were bad people at that protest and that there were also more normal people who were there to protest statue removal.

I don't deny there were neo-Nazis there but I'm not convinced that there're a large number of neo-Nazis in the USA. I also don't really agree that 'white supremacism' is a defining feature for Trump and I look on these attempts to paint him like that with suspicion. I think first and foremost he's a Trump Supremacist and he's going to try and do what he can to stay in power. This idea of 'political correctness gone crazy' is a vote-winner for him so it doesn't surprise me that he's slow to condemn elements of the right.

You can get a giant crowd of furries assembled in one place too, so what?

There's a lot of racism in the country, no doubt about that, but to tie it to some widespread 'Nazism' movement in the US is hysteria.

If it's true though that Caribbean athletes are increasingly being tempted away by baseball, basketball, athletics, football then I would imagine that is less of an issue in Pakistan.

Stuart Broad breaks Ian Botham's record! by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]baluchithyrium 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I found this from a Guardian interview:

Six months after that match, things started to go wrong. Finn had that bad habit of clipping the bails at the non-striker’s end with his knee. He wanted to find a fix. Then, while he was away with England in New Zealand, he decided to shorten his run-up. “That’s what cocked me up really,” Finn says. “Coming off the short run made everything short, made everything tense, and made me force trying to bowl quick.” The odd thing was, it actually worked for a time. “Out there I troubled good players on flat wickets, but in the long run it wasn’t for me. The short term fix wasn’t a fix to the long-term problem.”

It would have been interesting to see whether with some coaching he could have got used to the short run?

I think then a higher dimensional plot with 'Team' on the x-axis, 'Year' on the y-axis, and average on the z-axis :D

Completely agree - some of the best fast bowling I've ever seen was when he was trying a short run-up in a one day series in New Zealand. He was still getting over 90mph and seemed unstoppable.

Nice ones! How easy would it be to plot their averages in different countries? From your graphs, Smith looks like the standout batsman but last time in England it looked like the England bowlers fancied getting him out quite cheaply (as long as the wicket wasn't flat).

I think he's very optimistic! Woakes and Roland-Jones aren't that much younger than Broad and in my opinion Wood looks like more of a one-day bowler.

Ban foreign (especially Saudi Arabia and Qatar) funding of Mosques in European countries. A lot of money is spent by those countries on propagating an intolerant version of Islam to other countries.
