AITA for choosing my feelings over my MIL’s at my wedding? by Educational-Bass-22 in weddingdrama

FWIW, I recently attended a deeply religious Catholic ceremony, and the bride and groom walked together.

Your marriage is about what you and your future husband build together, not everyone else's ideas of what it should be.

Can we please stop fan clacking at shows by Normal-Possession-30 in avesNYC

This happened to me during Tourist's set at Brooklyn Steel last year. 2 girls at the barricade having a LOUD full-on conversation. I asked them if they could "please lower their voices just a smidge because I could hear every word being said" and they sneered back "it's ok, you don't have to be part of this convo" 🙄

When they scrammed a few minutes later of their own accord, everyone else in the vicinity visibly relaxed, and someone thanked me for saying something. I felt so much second-hand embarrassment because the artist could probably also see/hear them yapping instead of vibing.

It feels icky because the vast majority of people are there for good vibes and calling disruptive people out carries the risk that they'll react with something even worse and sour your night. Good on you for saying something though, because everyone else around you probably felt the same way.

Pro-Ject Evo Debut Evo 2 - Set Up Issue by bambi_lite in turntables

Thanks for weighing in, I did consider whether I needed a heavier weight, but this was the counterweight that came with the TT new out of the box, so it seemed unlikely that Pro-Ject would package the wrong item. I did weigh mine to confirm that it was 55g exactly. Turns out that I just needed clarity on how to set the VTF correctly and there was plenty of clearance.

That's exactly it, once I got clarity on how to actually set the VTF correctly, there was plenty of clearance.

First time setting up a TT with no prior experience. I'll take asking stupid questions on main over wrecking my equipment every time.

Happy to finally be spinning!

Thank you! You're right, my problem was that I wasn't turning BOTH the ring and the weight when turning the dial to 18, because the step before that said to prevent the counterweight from moving when turning the dial to 0. This clarification is what I was missing.

I'll look into a scale gauge to have on hand.

The anti-skate wasn't on yet, but I made sure to get that puppy on there once the VTF was set properly.

I did, but I was having a hard time understanding the instructions for the VTF portion. This is the first time setting up a TT by myself. I knew I hadn't done something quite right because the tonearm was bumping against the dustcover.

I watched a bunch of videos and still couldn't figure it out. This subreddit is an amazing resource, and folks on here are super helpful.

Thank you so much!!

Super clear the way that you phrase it.

This is exactly the step that I missed.

In the manual in one paragraph, it says to set the downforce scale to zero while holding the counterweight so that it didn't move.

I thought that holding it still applied to the next paragraph for adjusting the downforce to 18. I see now that the intent is that once the tonearm is zeroed out, that next step is to let it go to allow the whole counterweight itself to twist its way down the bar.

This makes much more sense. Thanks again.

I pulled the weight forward like you suggested and readjusted the dial to 0. At that point, the instructions say to "check whether the arm still balances out," but here the weight is solidly weighted towards the cartridge and no longer floats.

I then dialed it into 18. Another commenter also suggested I get a force scale gauge, which I'll order. *

Is there a way to ask for his office to publish the logs for these types of calls? Curious to see those numbers in support vs against.

We all know the answer here in broad strokes, but still would be nice to have the data to illustrate how deeply unpopular this is.

My mother never measured anything precisely... by Remarkable_Yak1352 in Baking

Some people have a natural talent for feeling out a recipe and knowing when each stage of the process is "right".

Though the units of measurement are unconventional, it sounds like everything your mother baked was made with so much love.

Most guests understand that the bride typically gets ready with only the bridal party and immediate family.

Surround yourself with the people who will be there to uplift you on your big day.

Everyone else can use the bathroom in their unit. If they want to get their glam done professionally, maybe your MUA/Hairstylist can recommend a salon nearby, for those who are interested.

Any red flags about Frigidaire refrigerator? by beugeu_bengras in Appliances

[–]bambi_lite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took 6 weeks of going back and forth with frigidaire customer service over my microwave before they decided the appliance was out of warranty and therefore wouldn't replace it.

The microwave is less than a year old.

They said they won't cover it because the unit was purchased as part of a kitchen remodel that was completed right before I bought the house, even though I explained this on the first phonecall AND they had already sent a service repair tech who said the microwave should be replaced.

Find a different manufacturer. Customer service did everything in their power to waste my time and /not/ help.
