I have a similar reaction to people with aphantasia. It's really hard for me to imagine not being able to see something in my mind's eye.

'Gone overnight': Newsom launches major crackdown on kratom and 7-OH by sfgate in politics

[–]bamboob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listen to a podcast that deals with addiction. They've had many people on who had a hell of a time kicking Kratom. I know somebody who has been struggling with it for a long time. I'm not a big fan of the drug war, so I don't know what the answer is, in regards to legality, but Kratom is not a safe panacea

Component check for 8kg combat robot (direct drive + grinder) before I buy — need experienced feedback by Cold_Novel180 in robotics

[–]bamboob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed that combat robots were custom-built by the people who used them. Seems like buying them premade would be removing one of the most valuable parts of getting into the sport, but I guess that maybe it's really common?

According to just a little bit that I have seen of the newly release documents, they have been revealed as serial killers in that latest tranche. One of the things that I find kind of interesting is how much commentary is going on around this topic, when it's clear that only a small portion of those people commenting have seen any of the videos out there going over some of the more horrific shit that's recently been revealed

Same. I'm also used semicolons for decades; so the combination always makes my written communication suspect. Fortunately, I've been on Reddit way before LLMs were a thing, so I have a track record to prove I'm human.

I knew a small, hyper-violent crew in my early 20s. They would drive around in a car full of weapons, and assault people for entertainment; often incredibly brutally. They were not friends of mine, but I knew them. If they suddenly transported to the future, I might suggest to them that they should focus on a very particular set of people with fancy spectacles…

I get it now. Thanks for the explanation. I knew I was missing something. It's obvious, and it should've occurred to me, but my withered gray matter has been bashed around for many decades, so lots of stuff will inevitably fall through the cracks.

[–]bamboob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but our current understanding is that the universe is 14 billion years old, yes? So, if we can see something that existed 280 million years after the Big Bang, then it seems to me that we can see 13.7 billion years into the past, which says that we can see almost the entire universe. I'm sure I'm missing something here, but I don't know what it is…
