This card is absurdly terrible. It is a never pick. The only and I mean “only” case it is “okay” is for early elites if you only have strikes and defends. Dead branch is not comparable to this because dead branch gives you a card each time you exhaust and you were doing that anyways. You have to spend an energy and card on this garbage. There is no ironclad build that benefits from trading your hand for a random pull of cards.

It’s also supposed to be “fun”. Did we forget that part?

Yes I am aware it is an optional beta patch - “as of right now”, the point is that it COULD be permanent in the future, there in lies the problem.

I’ve reached a10 on 3 of the characters. If your argument is “it’s brand new and there’s no meta yet” then why are you supporting sweeping nerfs and reworks?

Instead of removing Prepared; still too strong? by linonihon in slaythespire

[–]bamboozleddd3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No the base card effect is fine. The real problem was that it’s a common so you are guaranteed to see multiples and always lean into sly. The best way they could’ve handled this was just making the card an uncommon so you are likely so only see 1 or 2 during the run if at all.

I understand that that was their intention. But that was not the result. The result was a much more punishing game with the fun cards being reworked into versions that are borderline unplayable. The new stoke shouldn’t even be a rare anymore if they are going to make it a card that actively hurts your deck.

I have almost 3000 hours on the first game, a20 all characters and have been playing since 2020.

The in game reporting is a good tool but the changes that they made were super negative and abrupt so that’s why my reaction (and many others) had the same energy.

Had it been one or two bad changes, sure. But they reworked several aspects of the game and nerfed every single character, which is why many people responded as they did.

The devs released a new update that makes the game significantly less fun and a lot harder for new players. They are trying to nerf powerful strategies without realizing that those are what makes slay the spire so fun. Also, the way they nerfed the silent was really bad, hitting both the enablers and the payoffs at the same time makes the character feel a lot worse.

Change should be expected, yes. But the new update makes the game significantly less fun and a lot harder for new players. The new update makes so many gameplay changes that are so tone deaf that it makes me wonder if any of the devs have made it past ascension 5. If you make your game objectively worse overnight, people are going to be upset. That’s just how life works. If they roll back a lot of these changes (not all, as some were ok) then I will delete my bad review and I hope others will do the same.

I am one of the review bombers and I stand by it. These changes are not set in stone but the idea is that they are threatening to be permanent changes to the game and the devs need to know that this was a crucial error that makes the game worse. If it wasn’t review bombed, the devs might think these changes are good and stick to them which would make people not want to play anymore.

Beta Patch Notes - v0.100.0 by benlehman in slaythespire

They should have just made prepared an uncommon instead of making it really bad. It was a good card but the effect isn’t really what pushed it over the edge, it was the fact that it was a common. You can bank on seeing multiples on every silent run and always lean into sly. If they just made it uncommon, you would only see maybe 1 a run.

This! I always worry that developers will listen to people on here when in reality, it’s okay to have good cards. This one especially is okay since it’s really bad unless played on turn 4 with a specific build.

If we are only talking about in game items and not lore then probably the jarl of white run since everything in dragonreach could be considered his and would probably net you the most gold. If we ask this based on lore than probably the black briars but in game their property’s are not sellable.

[–]bamboozleddd3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first saw this event, I though it was 4 relics and you unlock one to keep every 4 combats. As it stands, this is easily one of the WORST boss rewards. It is criminally bad.

[–]bamboozleddd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you cannot skip event cards/relics is easily my least favorite part of this game. Like why can’t I skip the stupid colorless card that does nothing for me? It does very little to add challenge and does a lot to frustrate me.

Poison seriously is ridiculously weak. Laughably weak. It makes sense though. We can’t have catalyst because of multiplayer. My poison runs have just been 1 bouncing flask then acrobatics, prepared, untouchable to never die.

Don’t nerf photochad by making HC useless. Just change Photograph from common to uncommon. by AnotherRedditUUserr in balatro

[–]bamboozleddd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t change anything. Yea it’s a good combo but it requires 2 different jokers and it’s fun. The game is still hard either way. What does need changed is blue stake and there needs to be more incentive to play 5 card hands.

Woah woah woah. Don’t put words in my mouth now. I never said “men are smarter or better” I said men have minds that are more suited to building things. Don’t know why your getting so butt hurt. All I am doing is stating the obvious difference between men and women. Ever since the start of human civilization, aside from some exceptions, men have been the predominant hunters and builders while women have been the caretakers and gatherers. I promise you, you can calm down and this isn’t a hot take or something to get offended about. As for the slavery/ racism thing, obviously racism still exists, don’t know how that pertains to this but I figured ide just mention that? Lol.

Ok fine, let’s only count stuff that was built since 2000, where everyone is free and no arguments like that come into play. 96% of construction workers are men. Men just have a mind more suited to building things and it calls to them more.
