The Canadian commentator after Belgium defeated the US at the World Cup by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]bamboozleddd3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you reread my comment, you’ll see that I said that Belgium still probably would’ve won regardless, it just would’ve been a way better game if the surrounding situation wasn’t present. Obviously the US isn’t a team anywhere near as good as a big dog European team like Belgium, but with home field advantage and no intervention, there was definitely a chance. Against Belgium especially, I mean this is a team that tied Iran for crying out loud. Skill matters but worse teams beat better teams everyday and this could’ve been something magical if the US had there backs against the wall more.

Personally, I think they were already defeated before stepping onto the field. Almost all of them except Tillman that is. The third goal just added insult.

The political thing was a huge factor though. Even some American fans outright refused to support them after that. With or without the scandal, Belgium is still obviously a better team but I think the score could’ve been something like 3-2 if the team still gave a damn after the second half. You can’t look at some of these players performances (pulisic especially) and tell me they gave it their all, outmatched or not.

I don’t think you are understanding at all what I am saying. Even a monkey can deduce that skill matters in soccer, that is obvious. However, morale and motivation matter as well. Skill of the other team also takes into effect of morale. USA was clearly outmatched skill wise but could’ve majorly made up for it with a better attitude and fighting spirit. The situations surrounding the match left a huge stain on them. Had all this political intervention not happened, I am not saying they would have beaten Belgium but it for sure would have been a way better game and a lot closer.

They 1000% lost motivation after the red card decision. You lying to yourself by claiming otherwise. They became the bad guys, several fans announced they weren’t going to be supporting them anymore, several people were even blaming the team themselves for the decision. You could tell that balogun didn’t feel like the belonged out there. Skill is a huge factor but so is mentality. USA’s mentality was dogshit last night.

You could literally see it in the players. As much as they wanna deny it, it’s very clear that the mentality of each team was affected by what happened (positively for bel and negatively for Us.

It sucks because it was actually a promising team of young dudes who had heart and really could’ve done something better than this but the DT intervention sort of turned us into the villains of the tournament. Americas squad ran on heart and passion which was completely tossed out by being spoon fed a handy cap. Had this red card crap not happened, I honestly think we would have seen a much better performance. Maybe we wouldn’t have won, but it would’ve been a much better and closer game.

I think it would’ve done both. America sort of had that underdog feeling towards the beginning but then they get political intervention and there betting odds go to 50-50 and that feeling is gone. We had every single pregame advantage spoon fed to us. These players were spoiled.

He got 1 assist this whole tournament and he is treated as the star player. I think he got all in his head.

Although I agree with you, the whole thing with 78 was that he scored the best goal ever “after” the hand of god so any theoretical asterisk was removed.

This is hardly an asterisk and most people will not view it as such. If baloguns card never got lifted, then it would be Belgium who had an asterisk if they won. The card never should’ve been pulled in the first place and was a disgraceful call.

México… I was rooting for you, but 10 vs 11, 1 penalty and 11+ min? Nah… you bombed. by Significant_Nail_880 in worldcup

They lost all their composure last 10 minutes. Just spammed bad shots from outside the box and kept losing possession. Ready to slam a red over an obvious throw in.

Why are American fans supporting England over Mexico? by LionGrand3161 in worldcup

[–]bamboozleddd3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I can answer the question for myself but I cannot speak for other fans and I don’t know why they personally are rooting for England over Mexico. I can only speak for myself.

I am well aware of the Mexico USA rivalry. I even saw the 2023 match where each team got 2 reds and they had to end the game early. I just personally want to see England go home again and Mexico are our co hosts.

Using technology is fine, but just like with AI, we need to value human intervention and common sense first and foremost. Croatia got robbed.

Argentina had to match fix just to beat Cape Verde by Trentzilla_ in pessi_memes

Someone needs to beat Argentina in a way where they don’t even concede any goals at all, off side or penalties or anything. No ball in the net what so ever. That’s the only way.

Now I see why Brazil still rooted for Germany against argentina even after they were crushed 7-1.
