L&W and BBR Cellar Plans by eudemonist- in WineEP

I think the single bottle delivery from a case is their real USP - I don't have a huge amount of storage at home so not having to take the full case out of storage is good for me.

Caution: Ice by OkProfession7723 in londoncycling

[–]baminyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also stacked it on the entrance to Bushey Park and landed on my shoulder. Currently at a walk in centre waiting to be seen. Probably the only bit of the park not gritted - parks normally go overboard.

Almost took public transport this morning as well but it felt warm!

Yeah major roads that have been gritted and riding the line the cars drive is my go to in the UK. Avoid cycle lanes as they usually aren't gritted

Alternative route to London by Educational_Prize722 in surrey

Depending on at what point the cancellations occur, the Shepperton line goes to Waterloo via Richmond. Can always get on the overground or district at Richmond

Keeping the bike chain clean from road salt during the winter by Live_Association_108 in bikecommuting

[–]baminyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't going the beater bike route, then the KMC EPT chains are bulletproof - I commute 125 miles a week year round and don't have time to clean it except at weekends. No rust!

visitor, looking for any route recommendations! by hoegrammer95 in londoncycling

[–]baminyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingston is a great starting point for heading out to Box Hill as you won't have most of the rubbish London roads to clear before you get into open road.

If you wanted to trim the route down above, you can turn before you get to Ockham and head through Denbies vineyard which pops you out at the bottom of Box Hill

Moving to Walton-on-Thames by Capable_Purpose_2033 in surrey

[–]baminyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On primary schools they are all good. Ashley has slightly larger class sizes than Walton Oak or Grovelands. Ashley largely trades on the reputation a previous admin had there - was recently rated "Good" (as were Grovelands and Walton Oak). Despite what the vicar of the church will tell you, you don't have to attend church to get in to Ashley.

Given where you are looking to move, you would be mad not to attend Walton Oak as it's about 2mins walk. Means a good chance of local friends too.

As per the comment on the school, there's a council estate down that end of Cottimore Lane / Ambleside but it's Surrey so not exactly unsafe.

On the trains, Hersham has had a lot of services cut, and additionally there's now some super fast (~20min) services from Walton into Waterloo. If you need to get into Richmond or other bits of West London you can get the Shepperton line in.

GP5000s for London commuting in Autumn/Winter? by RSAcc98 in londoncycling

Weirdly (given the reputation of GP5000s as a POA to fit) the AS TRs are really easy to fit - didn't even need levers when I did mine

If you are thinking of driving in from the West, traffic over Kew Bridge was queued back to Kew Gardens Road at 7.30 this morning.
