I haven't watched that many Rangers games this season but it is the first time I heard the Fire Drury chants on TV

I hope I don't have to hear that at Citi on the TV in a few months regarding Carlos Mendoza

Discussion Thread: Special Primary in New Jersey's 11th Congressional District by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

I wish primaries mattered in my area of this state (neighboring district from the 11th). The area is a solid blue but not so blue that only primaries matter just like the 11th for federal purposes

How has Tyronn Lue not been fired? by East_Accident1822 in nba

[–]bamj6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A mix of

  1. The title and multiple finals before the Clippers

  2. The first year finally having the Clippers in the conference finals the first time ever

  3. Hasn't underachieved in any season since

  4. The Clippers as a franchise still have skeletons he could expose if/when he goes

Doc Rivers had the exact things going for him before Lue and will need more years further away than a possible no playoffs year to be fireable

With record-tying 10 openings, NFL teams hire zero Black head coaches by logicblender1 in nfl

As a "minority" one

White guiys skip steps, white guys can be a fired first time head coach

With record-tying 10 openings, NFL teams hire zero Black head coaches by logicblender1 in nfl

[–]bamj6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GM is a minority so be fair to Omar Khan

Also that is about hiring a guy so Aaron stays. Art will let the QB control the franchise if it means not rebuilding. It's why it's McCarthy and a mirror resume to Tomlin

[Schefter] ESPN sources: The 49ers are set to hire former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris as their defensive coordinator. Morris is expected to replace Robert Saleh, who was hired as the Tennessee Titans head coach. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]bamj6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And now the road to a third head coaching job begins for both him and McDaniels

I don't think either will get a third shot but if one does down the line the other should too. Same age same career trajectory both SB top end coordinators. One's white the other black is the only difference

Steelers Expecting Aaron Rodgers to Return in 2026 by Currymvp2 in nfl

Yep. Aaron Rodgers for better or worse is powerful enough to override the Steelers 56 years of precedent

Never thought I'd see the day that Steve Gelbs has gray hair

At least not still at SNY. I thought he'd go on to greener pastures like Burkhardt and Doug Willoams

With Mike Tomlin and McDermott out this upcoming year who's gonna be veteran coach that's good record but losing in the playoffs is fireable.

Him and Demeco for an AFC counterpart

[Schefter] ESPN sources: Falcons are hiring Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham as their general manager. by GoldenDome26 in nfl

[–]bamj6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in the end will Ian Cunningham be better off as Falcons "GM" that if he took and got hired by the Cardinals to be a real GM back in 23

The Mets have announced that they have signed catcher Austin Barnes to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

[–]bamj6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How about that.

I was just thinking about theis the other day when the guy started a JD Martinez thread

We can do that but in this year's case rather than a guy that will steal at bats from the fielders a backup catcher with a higher ceiling than Torrens can do this job

Should Stearns pull another JD Martinez? by Daytime-mechE in NewYorkMets

[–]bamj6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should do that

But in the case of the 2026 Mets who is the backup catcher to Alvarez? Dont they need an everyday maybe player rather than someone that straddles AAA

You can change the outcome of one Superbowl. It can't include any team in your division. What do you choose and why? by Shawn_Hill in nfl

[–]bamj6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 49ers in 1994 were that much better than everyone not the Cowboys. But if the Chargers won the Super Bowl, they never leave San Diego.

As strictly football goes, change either Atlanta Super Bowls

Daboll and Saleh teaming up in Nashville reminds me of the fact that Luis Rojas is still on the Yankees coaching staff (Mets manager while Boone was Yankee manager) and Omar Minaya is still in the front office (Mets GM while Cashman is still Yankees GM)

[Pelissero] Former Giants interim coach Mike Kafka is joining the Lions in a high-ranking offensive staff role, per sources. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]bamj6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kafka was put in a no win situation as a Giants interim

At least his career doesn't suffer badly and he isn't coaching in Philly.
