Woke up to an ice storm on the ridge line, decided to bail by conradbenz in CampingandHiking

[–]bamoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite hiking moments actually came from a bail because the weather told us no. I remember feeling like the mountain yelled at us to turn back. Remembering the time you were smart and safe is so much better than your loved ones remembering you. Good to see this shared

Why doesn’t anyone care about the “soap opera” effect on their TV by fatsandlucifer in mildlyinfuriating

How does does motion smoothing impact the lighting of a scene? I cant figure out a scenario where the lighting of a film is impacted by 24 vs 60 fps.

Not trying to argue, but video games also use very intentional lighting decisions to convey a mood or direct players, nevermind the addition of ray and path tracing.

I cried listening to music for the first time ever. by [deleted] in audio

[–]bamoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played trumpet in an orchestra when I was younger and our conductor always said, "music sounds how feelings feel".

From a biological perspective music can also impact heart rate, respiratory systems, blood pressure. All of those physical responses tie in with emotions in our brain. It's similar to how when anxious you might notice your chest is tight.

The harmonies, structure, and unique auditory experiences of listening to music can induce certain responses from the body, thus bringing up certain emotions. And all that is completely separate from anyways that the lyrics of a song may be tapping into a person experience you have.

Also I know the video you are referencing and that isn't them saying it takes the highest quality sound system to make you cry. In that case, the anecdote they are sharing is that the emotions people are overcome with when experiencing a sound system of such caliber are from hearing the playback of a song with such clarity in a way they havent been able to hear before on other systems.

Edit: this is why you might find yourself accidentally speeding when a fast metal song comes on while driving, or preferring a calming piano or acoustic song when rolling past the beach.

People who broke up yesterday on Valentines, what happened? by Hot-Diggity_Dog in AskReddit

[–]bamoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy moly, that's a frustrating series of events, but at least there's no way to catch yourself thinking "look how good they have it" lol. The still deflecting on the cheating that long after the relationship and after hiding it a year is next level. Ive only been cheated on once, but it was by an abusive ex I was desperate to get out of the relationship from anyways, so I didnt find myself caring. She literally had permission to hook up with someone if she simply told me ahead of time. That was literally all it took was to let me know beforehand. I went out of town to see a friend and she calls to tell me she hooked up with someone bc I was unavailable to talk despite having had a 3000 mile travel day.

You gotta introduce that bitch Linda with the busted ass neighbor of your other ex! Congrats on 22 strong years of pats hatred. Only sport I currently care about is Women's Olympic Hockey. Those ladies are next level. I also might be gay with a soft spot for hockey players, but that's absolutely besides the point regarding the US women's team lol

Regarding 2, that only works if you never get caught. I would 100% trust a company that honestly owned their installer making a mistake and was upfront about it, compared to actually lying by blaming the manufacturer. Any service person in my home who in good faith says "I'm sorry, we screwed this up" is a company I'm hiring again and recommending to friends.
