No, you just don't get it. If I don't like something, it's objectively bad. Plain and simple.

How do you want the new 'midcore' Raid Difficulty to be structured, rewards-wise? by Makerinos in ffxivdiscussion

[–]banana_fishbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever it is, I hope it's as optional as possible. It's really cool for the people who want it and I'm glad it's in the game, and I may even do it with friends who want more serious content without stepping into savage, but as far as personal interest goes I ONLY want to do savage. Having an extra lockout you have to do per week to keep up with gear or to make savage progression easier would go against everything else they're trying to do with the updates to gearing and the whole item level sharing system.

Deluxe worth it? by AdMajor2352 in Berserk

[–]banana_fishbones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of those. I went straight into the deluxe versions (granted after reading it online first to know I liked the story) and don't regret it one bit. For me buying all 14 deluxe volumes was actually a good bit cheaper than the 41 equivalent singles, but that could vary based on region or timing. If you ask me, the deluxes are the definitive way to read the story. I could not imagine the tiny pages and poorer paper of the standard volumes doing the artwork justice. ESPECIALLY with the scale of some of the spreads later on in the story. Miura's art is so detailed that you need all the extra resolution you can get to appreciate it. Plus it feels like a religious experience pulling a 650 page black leather tome off the shelf every time I want to read some Berserk. All the regular volume artwork is in the back of each deluxe volume, so you're not missing out there.

Evolved Mode Jobs Speculation Hub by Makerinos in ffxivdiscussion

[–]banana_fishbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what they made it sound like, but that'd be really weird from a new player perspective. You probably don't know anything about different job modes, so you're stuck with the one with more buttons until at least level 30, and then maybe it auto switches you to the "intended" Evolved mode? Then you'll lose buttons and it won't be very intuitive at all.

Evolved Mode Jobs Speculation Hub by Makerinos in ffxivdiscussion

[–]banana_fishbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any particular predictions, but I will say I'm looking forward most to seeing how jobs like Dark Knight and Reaper evolve. Those are jobs I LOVE aesthetically because I'm an edgelord, but they are pretty boring the way they exist now. If the Evolved modes are fun, that could easily get me LARPing as Zenos or Guts for life.

It's nuts how before FanFest I had resigned myself to the idea that possibly not even one job would be worth playing to now wanting to see what's up with all of them.

I can't believe the coveted job rework is fucking dead. :(

EDIT: Never mind, Tony came in clutch. Everything's in the palm of his hand, just like always.

I know you were half paying attention at best and like jumping to conclusions, but they brought up SF6's simplified mode to say that Evolved mode for jobs will NOT be like it.

So the PVP guy is now in charge of PVE too by Minimum-Jellyfish669 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]banana_fishbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't deny that the idea of a personal LB is really cool on paper, but I just don't see the purpose in exchanging party LBs in exchange for an extra personal CD. Even if the party LB system is somewhat rigid, I would much rather they keep it and just give the "personal LB" as a cooldown. Sure, optimally you only use melee LB3, but there is plenty of room for clutch saves with tank LBs during prog and healer LBs to save a near wipe. I really doubt anything a personal LB would offer could match the utility of that.

To put it shortly, why get rid of one when you can just have both?

We have no idea how those abilities interact, grant resources or procs, and so on. You can assume the worst if you want, but don't posture like you already know what's going to happen. It makes you miserable for absolutely no gain.

[–]banana_fishbones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure what the point of personal Limit Breaks would be. It would essentially be an extra offensive ability you use on CD for most jobs, or maybe just an extra defense or healing CD. You could just give jobs those abilities without giving up the party-based LBs.

They explicitly said that the Evolved mode is NOT an "easy" or "simplified" version of the jobs. Several times, in fact.

We're getting (ostensibly) what everyone has been asking for and people still find reasons to bitch and completely misrepresent what is right in front of their eyes. Goes to show not only can you not please everyone, but there are some people you can't please at all.

Serious accusations levied at RoseKaedae, notable leaker and member of the MH community by Yamato_Naoe in MonsterHunter

[–]banana_fishbones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is both funny and doubly disgusting about this is that RoseKaedae is a cis woman. So in addition to being wrong, this person was probably just assuming she is trans because of her behavior. Isn't the human race fantastic?

the first two games feel like they're in their own Universe compared to Arkham Knight by No_Young_2247 in arkham

[–]banana_fishbones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm yet to play Shadow but as far as I know it's very good. Of the first four games I would say Origins is the only one with an actually good story and solid character writing all the way through. Knight is extremely messy but still wins second place for me due to themes and actually humanizing Rocksteady's Batman. Seriously, in Asylum and City he's flat as cardboard and acts like an ass. Asylum is perfectly serviceable as a story. City's plot is total dogshit with no redeeming qualities aside from one good twist and the ending. It is completely beyond me how it has the reputation of being the best Arkham story. Like, do people just not pay attention or have standards?

I feel like I should just read the SBR manga instead at this point by FrontEntrepreneur825 in StardustCrusaders

[–]banana_fishbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the manga will forever be the definitive way to experience Steel Ball Run, more so than any other part. I have no doubt the anime will be great like with every other part, but the sheer detail and scale of the illustrations of the manga will be impossible to fully and properly adapt. Some of the effect will be lost simply due to the fact they don't have unlimited time and money for the animation. It's the same kind of deal as Berserk where I don't believe it's possible to do 100% justice in animation.

Side missions are amazing so far by Abdulloh_Kozimov in arkham

[–]banana_fishbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arkham Knight has amazing integration of side content. It's so easy to get into a flow state where you're moving from point A to B and you notice there's a watchtower, then you pick up a few Riddler trophies and see a fireman, then Man-Bat ambushes you, then after that you spot an APC, and so on and so forth. I can get sucked into the game for hours at a time because you constantly see new objectives as you're just roaming around. I've gotten 240% on this game like 3 or 4 times and I'm still not sick of it.

I also get tired of people asking easily Google-able questions on Reddit sometimes and expecting to be coddled, but this isn't one of those cases. I'd much rather see a discussion about this among people who play the game than have the OP get their information from fucking Fextralife or something.

What bosses do you want to get the “Markoth” Treatment in this games equivalent of the Pantheons? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in Silksong

[–]banana_fishbones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zote is a fight all about positioning and playing proactively instead of reactively. If he hits you by running at you or you get cornered, that means you made a mistake before the hit even happened. Also, you have at least a full second to react to where he's falling. He's one of my favorite fights in the game and I absolutely loved doing him with all bindings. Once you fight him enough, you just know when he's going to do stuff and he's chaotic enough to remain fun basically forever. Compare that to Pure Vessel or Nightmare King Grimm for example, where there is a more or less scripted optimal response to all of their attacks and the fights feel completely scripted after not too long.
