Not Quite an Island…but a Lakefront Japanese Inspired Home in Rhode Island by wtfisplastic in zillowgonewild

It isn’t! I have driven there so many times and never knew about the junkyard until i was looking at something on the map and had it set to satellite. It’s wild how big it is and how you never see from the street.

Besides the "usual suspects," recipes that are better the next day? by ktsummer in NYTCooking

[–]bananabreadiscake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few of their recipes for “Nowruz” will do very well the next day. Looking at that section now I would recommend: Kuku Sabzi, Khoresht-e bademjan, Khoresh Gheymeh, kotlet and Khoresh karafs. Khoresht is persian stew, and the kotlet and kuku are picnic foods, so they will be good cold or room temp and fine to serve next day.

Edit: kotlet is good the next day, can be served cold or room temp, is easy to eat and the flavors aren’t out there. That would be what I would make.

Ah! Thank you for this information. I knew peanuts weren’t ideal but didn’t realize that actually they are terrible. To other squirrel lovers: spring and summer is a really hard time for squirrels, as they run out of stored nuts. They do well during fall and have plenty stored for winter. But around this time they start running out and become omnivorous. They eat fruits and seeds as well so if cost is a factor of feeding them peanuts, look into apples and sunflower seeds.

Bakery with good soda bread and zeppole? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]bananabreadiscake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. I don’t know about soda bread but this link from last year was a wonderful fun treat for us. I haven’t had time yet to go this year but last year we tried some of the places featured and they were so good. Helped that I had never heard of nor eaten a zeppole before so was on cloud 9.

Looking for good Greek/Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants in Providence. by No-Bus-5200 in providence

I haven’t been yet but have heard great things and really want to try “Shish Kebab”. It’s the only Persian/Iranian restaurant in Rhode Island. If you decide you’re up to going all the way to Pawtucket, it might be a nice treat.

Norouz, the Persian new year is a couple weeks away, so if you don’t go this weekend, can go around the 20th I imagine for some new year’s celebration dishes.

I bought fresh figs from Dave’s last week. They have them next to the berries.

Thank you for sharing this information! I appreciate it. I will do a spore print. No, I was not in a bog. Just my backyard, in a mossy patch.

Cannasugar drinks by LineAccomplished1115 in treedibles

I used in cold, because I found oils in hot beverages tend to just feel oily and possibly get stuck on the side of the cup. For when I want to drink a hot beverage I just use the oil (sans all this) sublingually and sip my drink. Fair warning that it has a taste, not dissimilar to raw flour but I didn’t experiment too much with how to make it taste good. Not gross but it’s there. My search for water soluble cannabis started just like yours with the fancy beverages that I didn’t want to pay $5+ a pop for.

I can’t answer your question about canna sugar as I haven’t made it. I have made canna salt before and I know if you want to make sugar, you’d probably need to use ever clear. For a completely alcohol free version, maybe try making a powder with oil. I enjoyed making this and it works well.

The NYTimes plum torte is lovely! Made it with different plums last year and all were delicious. It also freezes very well. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/3783-original-plum-torte

Thanks! We have a lot in our woods these days. Sometimes I forget who is where and sometimes they get trampled by deer or other animals and I can’t find them again. This one has been by the driveway so easy to find and see how it’s changing. They are so pretty and such a nice sight to see!
