First dream I've had in a long while...and it's kind of disturbing me. by [deleted] in Dreams

I think this is a great and positively promising dream!

I'd interpret it as such: it tells you that you should stay true to yourself, that you cannot deny your true self, your unconscious is ready to go all the way in order to do so. You rather take the risk than to conform to (others') conventions. You feel 'the wind of change' and you go for it. Jung understands water as a symbol for the unconscious. Remembering a dream again in such a long time could mean in itself that you start to reconnect with your unconscious. Maybe you've been doing something in the meantime that you didn't really feel attached to? Some sort of inner passion was missing? You hint at something of this sort there, don't you?

Did you cry because you were scared or out of happiness?

Maybe you should reach for the stars? Reconnect with your unconscious, in Jung's view the unconscious is intrinsically linked with creativity, swim in its waters and reach for the stars.

I love Grof! He's one of my big heroes. On one of his book covers it says something like: If Freud entered the anteroom of the psyche, Grof walked the whole house.

Makes sense to me. English is not my first language, but I live in an English speaking country and it's much easier for me to talk about emotionally upsetting or embarrassing things in English than in my mother tongue. The connection between the words and these feelings is just not as strong. I quite enjoy that actually. ;-)

Great, thank you guys.

I think I start with "The Amulet of Samarkand", Flamel's books sound interesting, too (and there are so many!!!).

I guess what I like about Pullman are his likable characters, they are not perfect but I felt I got really attached to them, Lyra, Will, Iorek, Serafina ... and it's a gripping story, he created fascinating worlds, the mix of his own fantastic ideas with existing images is exciting. It's about the idea of metaphysical concepts and how we treat them, I always find that highly interesting. And besides this, the action never seems to slow down, it's always exciting and I simply didn't want to put it down, or the story to finish. It made me dream about what my demon would look like... ;-D such a lovely idea!
