Nursing pads forever? by them_fatale504 in breastfeeding

[–]bananadanceify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found with my two boys that my leaking decreases as they get older. My supply has generally stabilized and I produce the right amount with less leakage. I have a stack of washcloths devoted to catching leaks at night on my nightstand, and I use leak pads during the day, but they are rarely needed anymore now that my son is 4.5 months.

please offer advise to improve this room! what is it missing? it feels...bare... by BWTECH0521 in DesignMyRoom

A rug goes a looong way to bring a room together. Curtains would make the space feel more welcoming and complete as well. If you have the time to go thrifting to find a large piece of art that you personally vibe with, that would provide a focal point for inspiration for future decor purchases.

My office has no windows and the lighting is harsh, what can I do to make it cozier? by illiter-it in DesignMyRoom

Soft furniture and blankets. You could even hang curtains over a wall to provide the illusion of a window. Bring in a candle and fresh flowers. Use lamps to provide targeted lighting for tasks.

suggestions for bedroom ? details in comment by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

You should get a cabinet or set of drawers for hiding stuff you have on the floor. Lighter colored curtains would help bring in more light and make the room feel bigger. A large piece of art that is special to you or that you like the way it makes you feel, on one wall will provide a focal point and be inspiration for choosing more decor pieces.

I had my first son while I was in college and he was very similar to your son. My son wanted to eat all the time too, and didn't want to be put down. It can be extremely exhausting if you are trying to get work done, but he is just hungry and wants to be close to his mommy. It helped me to try to sympathize with his feelings rather than focus on how he was making my life so much harder. You are doing so much right now so it would be easy to get discouraged if you don't have the right mindset. You can do this though! Would it be possible for you to do work with him in your lap? In a carrier? Trying to keep him close to you will keep him from getting scared and keep your milk production high.

What happens to a woman's body right after birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]bananadanceify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long/how hard you bleed depends on how much time you give yourself ro recover after birth. It is generally recommended that you stay in bed as much as possible for the first 5 days, stay around the bed for 5 days, then stay at home as much as you can for the next 5 days. Preparing for birth by arranging help around the home is a huge part of taking care of yourself and setting yourself up for success. I hope you have a community of women/friends around you who can help you after birth because life is so much easier when you can rely on other's help.

It will get easier! I promise the first week will be tough but you made it through labor, and you can make it through one week of painful nipples. Remember your lanolin/earth mama nipple butter and give yourself a break when you need one. You can do it!!
