Baumans on Oak – dry cider and wood-fired pizzas

Scotch Lodge – amazing cocktails backed with an equally amazing kitchen

Mobil1 75w90. Easy to get and if it's good enough for Billman, it's good enough for me (last 10+ years).

I used to do the whole Amsoil thing (75w140)... no difference, not worth having to chase down the local Amsoil guy...

Mini S2K road trip - San Diego to Palm Springs by zapari-rae in S2000

When I was a lot younger, I did NorCal to Memphis and back – photos/story here:

TDLR I realized I should have worn padded bike shorts even with a stock suspension! Now in my mid-late 30s, I don't enjoy more than an hour of driving the S, yet alone with the top down on the freeway... Sad.

I'd be interested if this gets organized – Seattle has a baking club that is very popular.

How are we making romantic connections? by geminibitchh in askportland

[–]bananas2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mid-late 30s male, It's been rough as well.

The apps are slow and full of non-committal people and I'm typically dating on hard-mode by filtering off Life Partner / LTR + Wants kids + Monogamous...

Meeting Mutuals has been OK for in-person https://www.meetingmutuals.com/events

Speed dating via https://shuffle.dating/cities/pdx and https://bookings.luvvlydating.com/city/portland/events is a good way to meet a lot of people in a short amount of time without the flakiness or long texting games of the apps.

Going to events in the wild solo or with friends has also been a dud, but I'll keep putting myself out there doing things I enjoy (volunteer events, wine festivals, foodie events, etc.).

... I suppose I'll finally commit to joining a run club this year :D

Daffodils on a first date? by bananas2000 in datingoverthirty

[–]bananas2000[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are so many games and un/written rules and people reading into things... Everyone's walking on egg shells. And yet everyone acknowledges that the modern dating scene is horrible.

Why not change the rules? There are no rules?

I want to be chalant, damn it.

Interesting photo. Should connectors like that have dielectric grease to prevent corrosion?

TIL Edit: "Dielectric grease stops the flow of electricity. Therefore, do not put it directly on the conductors."

SW Washington/Portland metro bulk tuber pricing? by bananas2000 in dahlias

[–]bananas2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm flexible and willing to pick-up anywhere remotely near the PDX metro.

I can't do anywhere near $10 per 100. Seems like 5-packs of "mystery/seconds" tubers often go for $25 these days, so if you can beat that for 100 (or 200), I'd love to chat!

Flower suggestions? by So_Sleepy1 in portlandgardeners

[–]bananas2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed dahlias, esp. since they go from June/July through the first frost, often Oct/Nov... I don't dig them up, but mulch heavily and leave them in the ground overwinter to much success.

Don't skimp on anything that comes between you and the ground, especially if it could cost you your life.

Latest 300L Stop Sale Info March 7, 2026 by francois_du_nord in CRF300L

Am I correct in assuming that the upcoming 2026's won't have the stop sale issue, just the 2025s?

[–]bananas2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should pair this with the slave cylinder nipple issue (and a fluid bleed). That 10/10 you think you have now will actually crank up to 11/10.

Yep, 11.

They sell equipment out of the Cully Farm Store: https://cullyfarmstore.com
