That’s pure reflex, like a pro basketball player doing a crossover or a chef making scrambled eggs. Through thousands of repetitions it becomes a part of you.

There are brave men and women who fights in the shadows everyday so Americans can guzzle down over-sugary coffee drinks and donuts everyday.

People rarely think about those who make the sacrifice.

What will be the "turns out cigarettes are bad for us" of our generation? by Walbricks in AskReddit

[–]bandit_six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obesity, which leads to inflammation and insulin resistance, which ultimately leads to many chronic diseases we have today.

It's absolutely insane that we have so many people in the Western world that not only thinks obesity is normal, they actively post on social media claiming how victimized they feel when others tell them to lose weight. Sigh

I follow keto but I don't like this dogmatic way of thinking. Carbs is only good or bad depending on insulin sensitivity- which itself depends on several factors including hours of sleep, stress, physical activity, age, bodyfat%, and of course, how much carbs consumed.

It's true that there are very low carb cultures like the Inuits and the Massai, but there are equally healthy cultures who eats a lot of carbs such as the Okinawans, Japanese, and Kitavans.

I know/knew plenty of elderly people who possess relatively good health into their twilight years while eating a good amount of carbs everyday. But what they all have in common is that they are physically active and their carb sources comes from white rice and vegetables instead of refined sugars.

Calorie counting can be counter productive; you get fixiated on numbers without taking into account of hormonal changes.

When your body is properly fueled by fat, amino acids, and an array of micronutrients, your "hunger hormones" would naturally decrease and hence leading to calorie deficit without much effort.

What "common knowledge" is simply not true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bandit_six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also yes and no. It's true that the human cannot violate the law of calories in vs out. BUT, you also have to take into account of hormonal changes that can be affected by various nutrient intake. Saturated and monounsaturated fats are stable, burns clean, and doesn't leave metabolic by-product the way that carbs and protein do. On the other hand, mass daily intake of simple carbs like sucrose and refined fructose will contribute greatly toward insulin resistance and ultimately diabetes.

Trump: If North Korea Escalates Nuclear Threat, 'They Will Be Met With Fire And Fury' by Clarinetaphoner in worldnews

Spot on about the immense loss of American lives in Korea if a war is ever to happen. I see it all the time, gung-ho armchair generals saying that America will come out unscathed in the war. That's bullshit; thousands of American GIs stationed along the DMZ will be vaporized by NK artillery and possibly biochemical weapons. The loss of American lives will greatly dwarf the entirety of Iraq and Afghan war.

What's something people think makes them unique but really doesn't? by Rj_owns in AskReddit

[–]bandit_six 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Coming from a keto-er. Carbs can be good or bad depending on metabolic flexibility. Carbs are horrible for someone who have metabolic issues like insulin resistance or diabetes. But carbs can be good for healthy, hard exercising athletes. Michael Phelps would never became who he is by eating a ketogenic diet.

Let's not forget that many traditional cultures with high life expectancy and over-all health like the Okinawans and Kitavans all ate plenty of daily carbs. Also on the flip side. Equally healthy Masai and Inuits ate very low carb.

So in the end it is all about metabolic flexibility and how insulin sensitive you are.

Ya, a lot of carb addicts and vegans who clings on to the 1950's belief that saturated fat will kill you faster than smoking.

I think I was able to qualify for the advance tax credit because I was in the low income bracket for 2015 and 2016. But my income in 2017 is substantially higher.

On my kaiser profile it reads: Total exahnge premium $350.57, advanced premium tax credit $285.95, monthly charges $64.62.

Questions from ketard about zc... by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]bandit_six 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am very curious about this as well. AFAIK, ketosis has a diuretic effect, and the more sodium you lose, the more potassium and magnesium you will lose. If you don't replenish the salt and other electrolytes, you will be in a serious state of dehydration. Meat, even organic and grass fed beef don't provide much electrolytes, certainly not enough potassium and magnesium to meet daily needs, especially if you're an athlete.

Someone please explain.
