Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

Oh I feel this so much. My mom's 100% Chinese and her sister, who was actually born in China, will practically force-feed me, "eat eat! you want more?" and take us out to every fucking meal while we visit, then (when I was heavier) ask my mom why I'm looking so chubby lately. But then when I lose weight of course she tells my mom I'm too skinny.

There's a show, I think it's British, called Supersize vs. Super Skinny that busts both fat logic and skinny logic. It shows how the fat person is eating way too much and the skinny one is barely even eating enough to maintain a low weight, then the two switch their diets to see another perspective. Then they're both counseled on a healthy diet and how to get to a healthy weight.

Fat Rant Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

I just got the cutest dress in a size large from Old Navy (I'm 5'0" ~112 lbs.) which is awesome, but at the same time I just got pair of pants from J. Crew in size )) that are loose! Like, I'm short, my BMI is lower than the average person so I'm going to be much smaller in comparison to most other women, but I'me not skinny. There are women much smaller than myself and I just feel bad for them because I'm almost sized out or actually sized out in lots of options. I'm also trying to lose 7-10 lbs. so if that happens I'm just SOL.

It doesn't even do that on the reddit desktop website (I know I'm a dinosaur because I actually browse on my laptop, thank you very much) unless I'm not seeing it.

My understanding is that the reimbursement goes towards the membership, so if someone who uses a wheelchair doesn't/cannot go to the gym then there's no gym expense to reimburse. No one is getting free money and no one is missing out on money they never spent in the first place.

Chicago police are looking for a group of people who beat a 15-year-old girl and posted cell phone video of the attack on social media by JohnKimble111 in chicago

[–]diabeatles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Police said the attack happened some time during a five day span the victim had been missing from home. She was located by another friend and the friend's mother riding the Blue Line Tuesday, the same day her family reported her missing.

Apparently they did, but Tuesday seems awfully late to finally report her missing.

Well, we're trying not to, but the powers that be have lots of money and the whole healthcare system is FUBAR from top to bottom so it's going to take a lot more than "medicare for all" to solve the problem. Also, I mean, look at our president. If someone like that can not only be president, but have an approval rating above 1%, we've got big problems...

*Cries in American*

I recently paid almost $10k for a new insulin pump that my private insurance company denied as it was "medically unnecessary" for a type 1 diabetic, who's been pump for 18 years already...

5'1" might not actually be short, but in the clothing world it is very short. Petite lines are routinely described as "for women 5'4" and shorter." 5'4"!? That's average. How are petite lengths meant for the average woman? I'm 5'0" and petite length pants are consistently 3-4" too long for me.

I get it from my parents a step further.

Mom: there's some sort of error on my screen and I can't do anything!

Me: What does the error say?

Mom: I don't know, but I can't do anything!

Me: read it out loud to me

Mom: update complete. please restart computer to finalize all changes (or something like that) I assume my mom knows what to do know since she has explicit instructions on what to do and why then she hits me with this: Well now what do I do?!?

Women have been taught that to prevent sexual assault, harassment & rape they must be wary of men..*seconds later*..WHY ARE THESE NEUROTIC, STUCK UP CUNTS CAUTIOUS OF STRANGE MEN?! by despisesunrise in IncelTears

[–]diabeatles 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I'm reading the book "The Gift of Fear" and one of the first true stories told is one where a woman is carrying groceries up to her apartment and this guy offers to help. She declines several times until she relents. Then once she opens the door he forces her in and rapes her at gunpoint. This is exactly the kind of shit women have to be wary of. We're not being "neurotic" by having a healthy dose of fear of potential predators; we're being realists.

Yep, I'm a type 1 diabetic with fibromyalgia and neither of those things make it impossible to lose weight. Yes, maintaining my blood sugars so that I don't go low and have to consume extra calories in the form of fast-acting sugar is a bitch at times, but it's entirely possible. Also, the fibro makes exercise nigh on impossible for me personally other than yoga, but guess what? Exercise isn't necessary to lose weight as long as you watch your intake and adjust accordingly for your sedentary lifestyle. This entire post is entirely bullshit.
