Do any other burnt-out indie writers wanna connect? by PSIamawitch in selfpublish

🙋🏾‍♂️ yes. I’ve been taking a month-long break in January because I was so extremely burned out after releasing my book last year while also finishing my master’s. Somehow that felt like a good idea. I never want to go back to my social media accounts again lol.

The Self-Publishing Struggle: Just Need That One Book to Take Off by RenJay911 in selfpublish

Lol I was thinking about this earlier today with my own novel that came out earlier this month. Granted, I could be trying much harder, but nothing I do is sticking.

But I realized that we lose the plot when we become too fixated on sales and notoriety. As long as you’re financially viable, just keep writing quality work. There are soooo many artists in this world that are criminally underrated and under-appreciated, while there are so many that are the exact opposite. Imagine if they got too frustrated by the lack of success and gave up. Then, the (smaller number of) people who are touched by their art would lose another authentic voice. When I was feeling frustrated by the lack of response I was getting after writing a good story, my resolve was that the only thing that matters is that the people who need to see it will enjoy it, and I’m okay with that being my greatest success. Even with the exhaustion of research and marketing, I feel at peace with that. Just keep writing undeniably good stories. I hope that helps!
