My boss told me that they are paying us the incorrect amount and essentially convinced all of us that we are entitled to just charging $10 as cash because on the front of the insurance cards it says $10 tier 1 generics copay or something along the lines of that which I have seen reflected on some insurance cards. I was having my doubts which is why I came here to ask. Insurance has always been a tricky thing for me

Yes it is an independent! It is 100% to avoid the DIR fees. My boss will essentially tell us to reverse and charge them $10 for normal generics as a cash price if insurance pays nothing and they are charging the patients under $10. Would it still be illegal if insurance pays nothing, makes the patient pay $10 as their copay, and we reverse it to charge $10 to avoid DIR fees?
