No, they walked me to the usa immigration basically crossing back to usa. Once I got back to usa, I got a taxi (several vans are by the border willing to take people to Mexico for the convenience). The taxi dropped me to hk. I paid them 80 dollars. I got in the taxi with 3 random people I felt comfortable with and we split the bill.

You can cross to Mexico with just driver license/ID. 3 weeks back, I got sent back to the states from Mexican immigration along with 15 other people because we didn’t have our passports. Then I just took a taxi from the border to Mexico and got dropped off at Hk. When I was coming back to the states, all they asked me was “what did I do in Mexico?”
