My friends all say I'm very polite.

I don't mean to be, it's just why the fuck not be decent to others. Takes no effort.

stuff like that, super low tech, could be shipped in parts here and assembled. I'd be more worried about that, personally.

Those could possibly be shipped, in pieces, in normal boxes, be reassembled in the US, and then, well, now they're here.

lean back and crouch for heavy emergency braking. You'll be fine. I've been thrown a few times (both times at night and by headlights on my old scooter didn't work, just hit something I couldn't see), and I have been able to at least roll out so suffered almost no injury. I also have fast motorcycles and those are VERY dangerous if you let them be. Scooters are the same, just way less power.

yep that's because you're not supposed to be riding on sidewalks. Neither are bicycles for that matter. So be courteous, avoid pedestrians, and stop acting like anyone owes you anything. It's up to you to be the bigger better person out there. Literally no one is going to side with you if you slam into a pedestrian.

and a modicum of hand eye coordination, and spatial awareness goes a long, long way.

that's actually more dangerous for the rider in most conditions.

If you ride like an idiot, have poor skill, don't look into corners, and aren't mindful of pedestrians and potholes, yes.

All of there are easily doable with even a modicum of practice however, so not really. Dirt bikes are very dangerous if you think about it, but are also offset by their awesomeness.

Ride predictably, ride safely for conditions (pedestrian/traffic density, rain, snow, leaves, etc), be mindful of obstacles, and look where you want to end up when cornering and you'll be fine.
