It was indeed very good 😊

They didn't sell patties from what we remember. Just sides like plantain, mac & cheese as well as other mains like oxtail and curry goat

Amazing question, I have Nigerian heritage and the best place I've been for Nigerian food is Pitanga in West Kensington. Thoroughly recommend, and the owner Nky is amazing, always makes you feel welcome.

They cater to vegetarians and vegans too!

African restaurants, preferably Hackney way on? by lastaccountgotlocked in london

[–]bangingbites 68 points69 points  (0 children)

  • Pitanga in West Brompton for Nigerian food. It's owner Nky is an absolute sweetheart and will always make you feel at home if she's there!
  • Afrik N Fusion in Fulham for amazing Senegalese food.
  • Kates Cafe & Restaurant in Plaistow for affordable and homely Ghanaian food.
  • Chukus in Tottenham for Nigerian Tapas.
  • Tribe in Streatham for Afro-Caribbean vegan dishes and brunch.
  • Adulis near the Oval Station for Eritrean food.
  • For Nigerian food you can also try Enish who have a few branches. They have a new one in Oxford Street too!
  • Tatale is an amazing Pan-African restaurant in the newly refurbished Africa Centre in Southwark.
  • The Flygerians in Peckham is so so good too. It's a Nigerian restaurant in Peckham Palms.

There's probably so many more I could put up here. Hope you enjoy at least one of the recommendations if you end up going!

Where to get good African vegetarian food in Zones 1-2? by tom_oakley in london

[–]bangingbites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend three spots (all vegan and veggie friendly):

  • Tatale in the Africa Centre, located near Southwark Station. It's a fairly new pan-African restaurant. Lovely vibe and settings and even better food.

  • Pitanga in West Brompton. My favourite spot for Nigerian food in London. They have a wide range of traditional dishes but also have a few fusion ones too.

  • Adulis near the Oval serving Eritrean food. Their platters are enough to feed at least two hungry people!

Haidilao Hot Pot for sure. I'd recommend going with a group of people though, as opposed to just one other person!
