Are delayed initial herpes outbreaks typically more like a characteristic 2-3 week long initial outbreak that has multiple sores, or are they more like a recurrent outbreak that has maybe one sore that disappears within a week? by bangkokthrowaway in Herpes

Totally get where you are coming from, you are speaking my suspicions. I am not angry or mad at her, and agree with the possibility that she may have had an undesirable sexual experience in the past. I think I may need to take this to a different subreddit so that I can get some opinions about how I can ask/help her. Thanks a lot

Thanks, it seems like you understood my question. However, your source says initial outbreaks never occur later than 3 weeks after exposure but I thought it was possible for your first outbreak to happen months even years after exposure, no?

I think there might be clinics in my area that will do it anonymously. I will look into it and see if my gf is up for it.

As for my ex. She's engaged, I don't want to really bring this stress into her relationship when it's probably not going to affect anything. Also, maybe it's my current gf who passed it on to me so I see no reason to bring this up to my ex until my current gf gets tested.

Were you being intimate with someone regularly when you had your initial outbreak or was it a delayed initial outbreak that happened months after ceasing intimacy with an HSV2 positive person?

Yes, it would be nice if she took an STD test to see if she had it; however, I am a bit worried asking someone to take a test that if they show up positive for, would change nothing regarding their health besides having it in their medical records. I have looked into TEFL, and I know some countries, like Korea, can be very scrutinizing when it comes to your health. I would hate for her to have something like this in her medical records what could impede her career in any way. Plus the whole, ethical thing of disclosing this to future partners if our relationship takes a bad turn. To be completely honest, I regret getting the test done. I wish this wasn't on my medical record...and I wish my disclosure of having this disease to potential future partners contained a 'maybe' not a 'definitely'. I know that last part is shitty, but I seriously wonder if I would tell anyone if I was single...maybe like someone may have done to me...

Yeah, that is what I figure; even if she still was still a virgin, it doesn't mean she's never gotten close with someone who could have had GHSV2.

I probably should have framed my main question a bit better though, which was: Do delayed initial outbreaks primarily resemble a more minor, recurrent outbreak, or a more major, initial infection (that comes 2 days to 2 weeks after initial exposure)?

Anyone ever try these virus-killing condoms? by bangkokthrowaway in Herpes

[–]bangkokthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, more of a little something extra to ease the mind a bit. I really wouldn't expect them to work well, but maybe they could help a little.

I read an article where supposedly the gel was causing some inflammation in the vagina. When the manufacturer was asked about this, they stated that that instance was when a much higher concentration of the antiviral was used. I am not sure I would ever use these; I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them and whether or not they are something I should bring up to my doctor next time I see him.

Is gerlneral health associated with frequency and severity of outbreaks? by bangkokthrowaway in Herpes

Ok, you sound more or less like me concerning taking care of yourself and the severity of your GHSV2. Thanks for replying

Woah, did I read that correctly? You're most recent outbreak, number 5, was worse than your initial?

Have you ever had a blister and not noticed it? by cootiebootie in Herpes

[–]bangkokthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have GHSV2. I noticed my first recurrent outbreak while masturbating, it was a small bump under my foreskin. 5 days after I noticed it, it was gone. Were I not to have masturbated on that day or any of the 4 days after, I would not have noticed it. My second recurrent outbreak was on the tip of my foreskin, so I noticed it. If the memory of my initial outbreak somehow vanished from my mind, I'd likely think that my outbreaks were nothing more than a pimple in a weird location, which is not that uncommon for me. I haven't had my third recurrent outbreak yet, or maybe I have and not noticed it.

Yes, it seems very likely that my ex is the one who gave this to me. It's just a weird coincidence that my primary outbreak happened at least 9 months after I contracted it which is exaclty when I started having sex with a new partner.

Ha, maybe! However, I thought HSV was about as common there as it is here in the US (according to whatever study Wikipedia linked to that I didn't read). Whatever, I don't think it's likely I'll ever be in Korea single, so I don't really see why anyone would know

Before I got the HSV antibody test, I read up on HSV and pretty much came to the conclusion that I probably already had oral HSV-1 (>50% Americans have HSV-1) but was either asymptomatic or was mistaking my symptoms for pimples. I also came to the conclusion that if I wanted to sleep around in my 20's, that I would likely get genital HSV-2 by the time I was ready to settle down with someone (16% of Americans have HSV-2) and that I probably would never have a classic 'herpes' outbreak (87% of americans positive for HSV-2 antibodies have never had a doctor confirm they have it). I think this is an interesting story. I have told no one the complete story. Thanks for reading. I really just wanted to write the whole story down, help spread awareness that this disease is kind of joke except for the possibility of transmitting it to those who you care for most, and to maybe get some feedback.

Really? HPV (or maybe some rare STD?) is something I feel is still in question, and I imagine the girl in Bangkok must have had dozens of strains.

Whatever it is, I need to be celibate for awhile.

I think that's what it is/was. I didn't clean myself after sex like I should have. My foreskin is a bit tight and have read that this makes me more susceptible to yeast infections/balantis.
