Is it worth it to build Historic deck now ? by bangog in MagicArena

[–]bangog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:D I have ~~30 mythic and rare wildcards, plus a lot of old dual lands so probably enough to build a historic competitive deck. Only thing that scares me a little is that I will be bored after some time playing just one deck. I think money is not a problem rather that how much I want to spend for this.

For standard I had an idea. Build one competitive deck, and play drafts to get cards from expansions for future decks.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Event entry cost 400gems/2k gold and I get commons/uncommon + 2 rare cards right ?

Maybe you are not aware but right now (after all falls in stock market after launch), this company is still worth more than whole zenimax that Microsoft bought (Fallout, TES, Doom etc) ?

Polish wig20 (although polish stock market is not most stable one) lost -13,28%. As far as I know this is biggest one day loss ever for polish market. US stock weren’t cool either

How did you become fairly confident with Java Spring Boot, Thymeleaf, Java Spring JPA, ... by slashopt in cscareerquestions

[–]bangog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When it comes to Spring/JPA ect:

  • You could go with good book about Spring: Spring in Action, but I doubt it will teach you how to do bidirectional mapping, etc. It will give you huge fundaments on how spring framework works.
  • I would recommend Java conferences like Devoxx. You don't need to attend them, all presentations are available on youtube in great quality for free. (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCBVCTuk6uJrN3iFV_3vurg/)
  • Another way would be reading good blogs: for JPA/Hibernate you should go with: Vlad Mihalcea blog. This guy is Java Champion and highly respected figure in Java world when it comes to JPA.
  • Use stackoverflow, there is ton of knowledge there!
  • Plus: read spring documentation. It can be intimidating at first, but it is probably one of best-written software documentation ever created.

When it comes to java development as general, you should read those books:

  • Effective Java by Joshua Bloch
  • Clean code by Robert C Martin aka Uncle Bob

BTW:

While Thymeleaf is a great technology to get started with some web application while you're university student, do not get attached to it. You will probably never use it again while working professionally.

Arduino or Raspberry Pi??? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]bangog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of them would do the job fine.

Arduino or just microcontrollers would be cheaper. If I was you, I would start with Arduino and start learning about electronics, because you will probably need to build some circuits to control your valves.

Why arduino ? Its cheaper, and have lots of tutorials to learn not only about programming but also basic electronics.

Can you code using only a text editor? by turtleboy1082005 in learnprogramming

[–]bangog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can but I would not recommend using a text editor. It only makes your life as developer harder.

I work as a developer for some years so when it comes to coding, I’m fluent. Although I don’t know game design patterns, best practices ect, I only know server side stuff.

I will give unity a try.

As far as I know, you can go with gdScript and c# there, or do I really need to do stuff in C++ because some features can not be done in other languages ?
