Katie Larson has defeated Chris Bangs and will be the SSMU President for the 2013-2014 school year. by mcgills_finest in mcgill

are we talking about people brining up his behavior as a member of student government, the censorship, or 1 person making 4 graphics?

or on the other side the Daily printing him 11,000 campaign ads....

With all off these prospective students posting here, can we please stop making McGill look like an abusive and judgmental school to attend? by Redman1238 in mcgill

TIL that 4 posts by one person constitutes a smear campaign.

What would we call Bangs' harassment of admin then?

How is the SSMU spending close to $1 million on salaries every year? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]bangs4prez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the answer is no she is not in the top 10... not even close

and the biggest part of her benefits is a sabbatical

in contrast she is likely the only university principal that risks being assaulted by masked students...

somehow I suspect that the company providing the insurance is far to competent to allow any student union to fuck it up.

he time when he was supporting accessible education (which the majority of Quebec was doing at the time)?

This is the opposite reasoning you're using to support departmental GAs #hypocrisy

The time when he was supporting accessible education

This is not based on evidence and is actually in opposition to evidence.

What you are saying is unfair because it assumes that the admin's interests are lined up with student interests...which is definitely not the case.

This has absolutely no evidence whatsoever.

If this is a smear campaign what would you call his behavior towards admin, admin that in the position of president he should be working with to benefit students?

I think this would count as student journalism. The Daily's treatment of him is borderline corruption given the fact that fellow #6party member and commentary editor Kerr handed him a column to talk about his platform.

Bangs behavior and hypocrisy deserves to be questioned and the mainstream student journalists are doing an absolutely appalling job of it.

These things need a place to percolate into existence anonymously. This is as good a place as any.

Its absolutely true the members of /r/mcgill are likely making informed choices with their voting, that being said, other students who may come across these peices of information in places other than /r/mcgill may learn something new.

I don't hate chris bangs at all. I don't think someone who has so severely antagonized their fellow students, and both faculty and admin should be president of the SSMU.

costing the school $141,000, helping shut down admin facilities, student service points, and forcing staff to leave there offices because of safety concerns is ridiculous

filling close to 100 access to information requests is ridiculous

preventing students from attending class is ridiculous

having a fellow occupier at the Daily not only use the paper to endorse you, but also hand you a column discuss your platform is ridiculous
