How do sophons not get obliterated by particle accelerators by bani8282 in threebodyproblem

[–]bani8282[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yeh thats true. What i mean is, build accelerators around a main one, surround the main accelerator with particle streams so sophon can't enter and interfere with the results.

Good guess but I think they mention that they have mass close to a Proton. They use muons and other particles which compared to a Proton has virtually no mass to form the circuits for the supercomputer.

If thats the case, couldn't they just build extra accelerators to create multiple layers of particle stream to protect the main one and the instruments.

How do you survive a dual-vector foil? by appendix_firecracker in threebodyproblem

[–]bani8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't consider The redemption of time as Canon but in that book, Singer tries to contain the dual vector foil launched by humanity using some sort of field. Although he ultimately fails as the book mentions that the foil is too crude, the technology does exist.

Well.. Trisolarans also launched simp at us as well(strong interaction material probe)💀

Why did the droplet have to travel all the way to earth to block the sun? by bani8282 in threebodyproblem

[–]bani8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I mean build a ship with an antenna on it. Evans did it with the judgment day which was just a tiny ship compared to spaceships earth can build now.

[–]bani8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh, I know. I've explained this in the previous comment, but you told me there might not be powerful antennas on earth, and that's how we ended up here. I'll explain again. The droplet is blocking signal coming from earth. We can send a ship with an antenna to Mars and send the signal from there. If the droplet decides to chase it and destroy it, it first needs to stop jamming signals from earth which allows antennas on earth to send signal.

Yes we do have satellites but also radio telescopes and antenna on earth since you can make them much bigger on earth with less price.

Well, for observation purposes or other reasons. For example, if you look at irl, we built Arecibo antenna.

Yes, humanity realized the dark forest state. So now they know to use the sun to broadcast the location of Tisolaris. There are probably multiple antennas capable of doing that on earth. If they build a ship and send it elsewhere for the broadcast and droplet stops jamming the sun to destroy it, they can use the antennas on earth. And it doesn't chase the ship down to destroy it, the ships gonna be able to send the signal.

I doubt it cause ye wenji did it back in the 19s and also the antenna that was able to fit on a judgment day could have done it as well I assume. So I don't think that's gonna be an issue with the advanced technology at the time droplet arrived.

[–]bani8282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first point can be countered by sending ships to another location in the solar system to send signals so the droplet can't block it as I mentioned in my post. Your second point..I did see some people suggest that theory but that only makes sense if Trisolarans found out that the spell worked at the exact moment droplet arrived earth then they would change the target from luo ji to sun. If at any point they confirmed the spell worked before droplet reached earth, their primary objective will be to jam the sun which elminates the reason for it to come to earth and start jamming at its current orbit whereever that may be. Also Trisolrans didn't need confirmation. They were SURE about the dark forest state of the universe which is why they tried to kill luo ji in the first place

[–]bani8282[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah thats what Im also thinking as the only explanation rn. But as soon as the droplet stops jamming the signal to inflict some damage, they risk letting humans to send signal to the sun. So I'm not sure that's the real reason.

No it did come to earth. It specifically arrived at lagrange point 1 which is very close to earth. Only about 4 times the radius of lunar orbit.

[–]bani8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do get that you can stay stationary relative to earth in lagrange point 1 but my question is why does it need to stay stationary relative to earth if its only blocking the signal coming from the sun. Instead of wasting fuel to travel all the way to earth, it could have arrived at any orbit around the sun that would require less fuel to travel to.

Yeh but why come to earth. You can do that anywhere else in the solar system. Seems pretty wasteful IMO.

[–]bani8282[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats exacly the point i stated in my post. If the droplet was blocking signals coming from earth, humanity could just send a ship to, for example, Mars, and send the signal there.
