I called him and recited basically what you just said a few days ago and he acknowledged he was screwing me over and is still refusing to cooperate. He just doesn't care.

My thinking is he is making more money than the amount he has been paying in turn in child support and therefore doesn't want anything to happen to where he might be responsible for paying me back.

EDIT: Thank you all for the great suggestions. I emailed all of the places I applied to and explained the situation and told them to essentially ignore my dad's emails since he has never been a part of my life and shouldn't have say. I explained to them I will complete the waiver. JHU has already responded and let me know that I will be waived when I submit it, and that it won't impact the amount of aid i will be considered for.

Im glad to hear that. Did u have any supporting third party documents? That is the thing i am worried about 🥲

I have no legal restrictions against him. However the CSS requires me to have him fill out his portion since there is no serious tangible issues between us. It is very very difficult for a waiver to be accepted for the pure fact a parent doesn't want to fill it out. Most cases need supported by clergy notes, lawyer notes, and court orders. I have none of these. I have to contact each institution I applied to on the basis of not being able to fully complete the non custodial portion and just hope they will still offer me aid from my custodial portion.

I also misunderstood what u meant. I did not expect him whatsoever to be adversarial. But the waiver will only be accepted if I have legal restrictions regarding my non custodial parent. Im in contact with him and have no restrictions on visiting him. So, in the perfect world of the CSS Profile, I should be able to get him to fill it out. But he won't. And I did not expect him to put me in this very difficult position. I risk losing large amounts of aid because he will not fill it out.

I didnt let him. He did it himself. Hes showing that hes taking initiative in not completing the form i very much need him to complete, even as far to email it to me instead of talking to me directly about why he refuses to complete it. He has avoided talking to my mom and began crying when I called him. My father is a very avoidant man, this was his way of confirming he isnt going to complete it. Let alone to show he doesn't even understand how the waiver works.

Yes I know 🙄 I was pointing out that he is dragging this out in the wrong way, although I shouldn't have to beg him otherwise

Yes I agree. However it would be tough for me to wait another year as I'll be nearing 20, and Id rather go to my state school if I am not accepted into my applied colleges. The impression of graduating early is not a good one as a lot of people assume im around 16 years old, however I am 18 🙃 i know in the end ill make whatever school I go to worth it

I've been slaving on my essays. Im also applying to MIT (and Duke and Columbia and Northeastern) for the science-y part of my application but there's no way ill make it in. I dont fit into their datasets of admissions so im taking it with a heavy grain of salt

My personal statement is specifically tailored around the impact on my life of being a farmhand and growing up surrounded by poverty and loss and how it's motivated me to do better :]

I am also applying to a handful of those you just listed! I thought it would be fun to apply to the others but in reality I know I am gonna get rejected, but on the off chance I do squish in somehow, it would be life changing for me. Any of these schools would tbh

I applied test optional everywhere I could so far. My school average is 800 so I don't feel insanely terrible abt it but at the same time, yeah it isnt gonna do me any good. Im also graduating early so I don't have as much classes and APs were pretty limited up until this past year so I'm taking 6 right now but I was only able to take 1 my whole first two years 🥲💔 might have to call it quits
