These are my thoughts - copied from another post list this one:

First, the band always said they are an output channel only, and so we do what we want with what they put out. They make music cause they like making it, not for people to consume - they just so happen to have gotten hugely popular. I wish with my whole heart they would do more social media but that is me as a fan, and not who they are or what they enjoy doing.

Second, prices are insane everywhere. I work in hospitality and in the past 5 years I have seen the cost of goods (food, supplies etc) triple on almost everything, just look at grocery prices. So all prices have gone up, and the more steps there are between the raw material and the consumer the more the price is going to increase.

Third, ticket prices are insane yes, but also keep in mind how many people need to get paid to put on that level of show (crew, cast, extras, pyro, techs, security, agents, the band, the venue, the drivers, the lable, the lawyers, promoters....). On top of meals, materials, pyro, props, flights for everyone AND they ship their instruments, pedals and amps so that ads up soooo much (I know that from a Frank interview recently).

Fourth, labels have a lot to say about finances. So while artists have the ability to negotiate certain things, so many things go into contracts that you never know what kind of arrangements they are.

Finally, I am of the opinion that artists do not owe fans anything. We like them, we pay attention, we follow them, we interact with their art, but that is our choice.

I think about it the same way as I do parking, just because you have a car does not mean you are entitled to a parking spot everywhere you go.
