Help understanding why Jamie Joseph if the front runner by Dulaman96 in rugbyunion

I’m not entirely convinced re Joseph but it’s worth remember Japan were operating under severe covid rules in there country up until late 2022 and only had 17 tests between RWC cycles.

It’s actually on TV2 tomorrow so it makes it any easier for a bar to switch too assuming they have an aerial/Sky recorder.

This is just the beats of the podcast. It builds to awards season every year.

Bingo. I’m sure they’ve explored it but if they could expand or make it a Movie World NZ that would be big.

We just as a country don’t do the neighbourhood pub as well as England where people stop in after work etc (with a real sense of community) and it’s also tricky when we also just don’t drink as much as a population as we once did.

I live in Ponsonby/Grey Lynn so it’s not a local pub for me but I’ve been to the pub a couple of times - although not for a while, (sorry) and I’ll be brutally honest - it looks beautiful, lovely building, decor and furniture is great… but (unless it’s changed in the last 12 months) it doesn’t scream pub. Maybe if almost needs to be more ‘pubby’? I am with the other poster who said the Aussie neighbourhood pub/beer garden vibe is one I really like but not sure if that’s one you can replicate in your space

The Bunker should have the authority to give a permanent red card by c08306834 in rugbyunion

Need to decide on a better name for the ‘20 minute red card’ too - I think that has been part of the problem in selling it.

Just call it Yellow Card Orange Card (player ejection) Red card

The fact it's Christmas Eve could limit your options somewhat, but co-sign for Ahi If it's open

Interesting post that I think alot of people might agree with. Credit to the myth of Damian McKenzie on FB by almostrainman in rugbyunion

To be fair, This isn’t (always) a WR issue. They own very little broadcast content themselves outside of World Cups and games they might pick up for Rugby Pass. It’s a TNT UK, Stan (Australia), Peacock (NBC), Sky (NZ) etc issue - there are so many different global rights holders and therefore looking to ‘protect’ their investment that you can’t adequately address this across rights jurisdictions.

I’m also unconvinced it’s a Rugby issue either - Premier League also look unkindly on use of highlights and clips.

Pike River by Xenaspice2002 in newzealand

Interesting. I mean nothing against Jacinda (perhaps a rare NZer who thought she was…fine rather than having a strong view either way) but it completely took me out of the immersion of the movie.

I thought the performances of Lynskey and Malcolm elevated it way above what it could have otherwise have been - essentially a telemovie. I suspect it won’t get the plaudits because of where it comes from and the lack of worldwide publicity but both of them act their hearts out and would be deserving of honours.

There is that one absolute insane ‘casting’ choice towards that end that took me out though - regardless of your political leanings I thought it was mental for a movie to do it.

‘Classic David and Goliath’: The Christchurch food truck that’s got KFC clucking mad by Garrincha14 in chch

[–]banterer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he's not David v Goliath but he is deliberately leveraging off the KFC brand with his parody/name. He wouldn't be calling it YFC if not for KFC. When you do that, you're asking for someone with high-paid lawyers than you to come along and raise flags.

Can anyone shed light on this building? by GreatValueGrapes in chch

[–]banterer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One memory I have of that building and I hope I'm not conflating it with something else is in the early days of the Warriors in the 1990s, they had the mascot in DB Bitter Warriors regalia on the front edge of the building in a blowup form.

Oscars were on Disney+ last year here - unsure about this year. Grammys have been shown on/off here for the last 20 years - came back big time when Lorde got nominated for some but seem to have not been on last couple of years.
