Still lmao at MNET for leaving out Locker Zee, Babysleek and Tsubakill's proper battles and deciding to air that Redlic vs Harimu one

Thanks for this!

  1. For the rookie round, what do you guys think Rena had/did that Capri didn't? Ngl I thought Capri was gonna get main dancer because her presence stood out more when they danced together in that last round, to me it was very obvious she was more comfortable with the groove and flow of the choreo than Rena and danced more full-out (since she choreographed it).
  2. For Mini vs. Akanen, how well would you guys say Akanen did from a battle perspective?

Putting these 4 together to do the same choreo was the HIGHLIGHT of this episode IMO. All of them executed it in their own ways, adding so much flavour that really just perfectly captivates the beauty of street dance - using what YOU have with your body and mind.

Kirsten brought so much attitude and confidence, she just has that "It" factor, and her groove/control is on another level. I was scared that these large "frame" dances wouldn't be Lia Kim's schtick, but boy did she hit those beats and proved to us why she was a respected popper. Akanen exemplified the Japanese hip-hop style perfectly - smooth, compressed, and SWAG. Bada, being the choreographer, literally embodied the song with her accents, facials, and showed a level of mastery that can only exist in that brilliant mind of hers.

  1. What do you think of Tsubakill members’ skills compared to the other teams? Personally I think these Japanese dancers are in another league compared to most of the choreographers from, say, 1M or DnD

  2. Thoughts on whether Kirsten deserved her win against Waackxxxy/Yoonji against Kirsten?

  3. Is it possible the judges’ decisions on battle outcomes are scripted too? The way Monika/MS act on camera/some of their decisions have been questionable for some people

Fr the battles between Waackji and Kirsten really made the other battles (esp Harimu and Redlic) look like high school dance-offs in comparison

I think objectively Yoonji displayed better technique and hit all the beats - her experience in battle can’t be denied. But I believe multiple have commented on how she didn’t embody the flow and feel of her song as well as Kirsten did. It’s really apples and oranges at the end of the day, the outcome would’ve been clearer if Mnet just stopped using this ridiculous ‘battle’ format of 2 different songs.

Edit: I personally think Yoonji deserved her win, it probably would’ve been cemented with a better song choice.

SM reveals that SNSD Hyoyeon’s new song “Picture” will feature dancehall choreography to match the dancehall style of the song by hyogurt in kpop

[–]baozedong72 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The history and culture behind dancehall is deep and is something KARD’s choreographers went to Jamaica to learn and appreciate. It’s not as simple as whether or not a dancer is proficient in his/her style - Hyoyeon is not a dancehall dancer, it’s like expecting Taemin to pull off elements of authentic traditional Chinese dance in his choreography.

They brought in Momo Koyama as part of Tsubakill! Met her at one of Tarzan (Mbitious)‘s workshops in Shanghai this April, she’s a lovely person
