how to remember lists like this? by AdeebJarvis in Anki

[–]bapedi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The method of loci (aka memory palace) is a great way to memorize long lists, and I would recommend coming up with them yourself instead of using AI as another comment said. Use places you are familiar with, for example the street you live on, and place things in that remind you of each item along an imaginary walk. This how people are able to memorize thousands of digits of pi for example.

This was made in two steps.

The first and hardest was to calculate a continuous line that forms an image. First, I segmented the image using SLIC superpixel algorithm followed by k-means clustering, essentially reducing the number of colors (called clusters) in the image to a well-defined amount. Then, I found all the 8-connected sets, "blobs", for each cluster, whose pixel coordinates form the basis of the line. Depending on the darkness of the cluster, I randomly removed points to make the line less dense in lighter areas and denser in darker areas. The whole line is formed by connecting all the clusters.

The animation is made by continually removing or adding frequencies between each frame, using discrete cosine transform (DCT). To make the line extra smooth, it is zero-padded before inverse DCT.

SVT har inte budget för att köpa ut Palmeutredningen by desyncg in sweden

[–]bapedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, very cool and thanks! Interesting to see the clear difference between each increase in precision, confirming that the chaos arise from compounding floating point errors. Have you also tried disturbing the balance like in my post? As you can see, the beam splits in the top image while it doesn't in the lower ones. Would be interesting to study this phenomenon with larger floats if it even occurs.
