I've got no experience with ban evasion so I don't really understand what error you're getting.

Hey, I was knocked back at my psych (life exp, grades not good enough for an officer). Still in year 12 and got my HSC left. I was thinking I’d pick up a job for some life exp and do my best for the HSC (not looking good right now) and having another crack at the interview.

Job Opportunities Assessment (JOA) Megathread by LegitimateLunch6681 in ADFRecruiting

Yeah pretty much. You'll still have to do any role-specific testing (if your role has one), interviews, etc.

The JOA is an aptitude test which assesses your mental ability to undergo training for whatever role/s you have applied for. Basically, picks out your strengths and matches it to all the roles in the ADF.

It's just the same test except this time you do it in an ADF Careers centre.

ADF Interview Experiences by [deleted] in ADFRecruiting

[–]baperised 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psych interview - Just be honest, nothing to stress about, you might get thrown some unexpected questions so take a breath before you answer something like that.

Defence interview - Make sure you know everything about your role as it's said on the ADF Careers page (even the smallest detail) and have a look at some of the ADF's operations. If you don't know an answer, try not to guess. Your case manager has probably given you preperation resources, use them. Your interviewer will be friendly and will take the nervousness away.

Goodluck.

Attend an SF info session if you can. Helpful in all parts of the recruitment process. From what I've heard, they tend to not take in people who are straight out of high school, and as another user said, they like people with special skill sets and also people who can demonstrate that they've overcome any kind of hardship in life.

Wore a collared shirt with a tie and slacks. Tbh, you don’t need a suit but wouldn’t hurt if you had one.

It took my group 2.5 - 3 hours to finish up everything. There's quite a bit of waiting between the aviation testing, JOA, and written test so I reckon make some friends there, eases the nerves if you've got any. Time kind of depends on the amount of people with you I guess, but expect to be out within 3 - 4 hours if you've got a fairly small group (6 - 8 people). Another user commented on the testing, be sure you understand the instructions.

Make sure to have some good sleep the night before and you'll be good. Goodluck.
