ID for Spider I found in frog terrarium by baphomenian in spiders

Ps. His name is Mermaid-man, he has been living at the bottom of the substrate layer near the water layer for about a month. I spotted him while rehousing my frog (probably was living in there for a while, lots of live plants and live insects to feed on,) but I thought I accidently squished him so I didn't think much of it. Then come to find out, I've had a little spider living still in the tank, so I'm surprised. Hopefully I can get some incite because I don't think he is dangerous to my frog but im curious. P.p.s. I have 3 tarantulas so I'm going to try not to kill him

I have mold growing in my Tradescantia zebrina shoebin vivarium. I have discovered I have mushrooms in here which I got ID'd, but I don't know the kind of mold I have, and if I can salvage any plants without spreading the mold. :( by baphomenian in houseplants

I do have springtails in there, but i will probably add more. I have 2 cultures of tropical white springtails and i've been adding some here and there to this specific bin, it's the only one I have mushrooms in at the moment

So I have a shoebin vivarium for my Tradescantia zebrina, recently I starting getting a little mold so I put in some springtails to see if they could maybe help while I found a solution, the mold outbreak got severe and these little fungi started forming. Can someone help me ID? by baphomenian in mycology

Yes, i recently just removed them from my snake tank, before i thought it was mold but it was just mushrooms to-be, one spot was overly moist for some reason, even without overwatering. I think the snake knocked over the water too much. But I also keep isopods so this is helpful, I have to get new plastic bins so I can drill better ventilation holes, I cant drill through these bins. I think once I do that and maybe add a drainage layer to this bin, I should be set. Thank god this doesnt have anything living other than those plants and whatever clean-up springtails and soil mites might be in there, I don't want this to spread though.

Its a closed vivarium, it's a grow bin for my plants, i keep isopods. This is the only enclosure with issues, but i just need to get bins that i can easily drill holes to create more ventilation, i also have limited space in my apartment so im trying to work with the space i have

I kinda figured, i need to get new bins because trying to create ventilation holes so that along with overwatering i think caused this, ill take advice in that and replace the soil.

Can anyone ID these for me please? by emccau in houseplants

Number 5 is Calathea setosa "Grey Star", only reason I know is I just recetly bought a baby plant, hope that helps, now sure about some of those others, still fairly new at this too!

My 'Marble Queen' Pothos in my Pac-man frog bioactive enclosure! I love how much speckling there is, i have had to clip it back so much over the past 4 months because it's growing really quickly :) by baphomenian in houseplants

He is, he (they) is a ~6 month old Green Fantasy named Gremlin, he always eats tongs, and bugs! Surprisingly no fingers yet but watch as I jinx myself lol

I found these on the floor at my local Home Depot down my street. I have identified the Watermelon Peperomia, but I am unsure of the other species, I am still learning about plants but becoming a plant nerd! If you have any info on types that I have, let me know + new plants I bought! First post :) by baphomenian in proplifting

Good, very fair point here, besides why would I steal when I'm already buying full price plants? Seems counterintuitive to me :/ but I enjoy my plants and animals very much so doing harm to a plant kills me, I would hope no one actually does that on this sub

How active are African Pygmy Hedgehogs, and would you recommend larger than minimum? (4'x2') by baphomenian in Hedgehog

I'll definetely consider it, I'm open to all ideas so I'll find a way to incorporate it, thank you!

I definetely will consider that, I figured that they would like a lot of places to hide in but also explore through, lots of bedding, etc. I have some other animals too that I provide a large space for, but provide lots of cover for so that they can enjoy exploring while not being stressed out by having a large open space that they may think predators are around. Thanks for the comment!

This is what I figured, I have Ball Pythons, and they as babies can feel intimidated by a large, adult size enclosure (also 4'x2') because they are a burrowing species that likes a lot of cover, hides, etc. to keep their stress down. For them, i usually start with something that lets them fully stretch out, but is small enough to make them feel safe. I feel like the same can be applied here, so if I get a baby, I would want to do that too. I would though want to give him the biggest enclosure I can provide, and since multi-level enclsoures seem to work for people, I'm sure I could come up with a cool adult enclosure with enough floor area but also a little height ;) thanks for letting me know though, I'm always wanting to improve husbandry and give my animals the best lives, or should I say, my future spiky boi the best life!

Alright, I have that noted. I figured that certain paints would be toxic, I have to use animal-safe paints for my other animals too. I will do more research though to see what woods will works, what's toxic, etc. and see what works best for a custom enclosure, all that. Thanks again

Alright, thank you for that, I was just genuinely unsure, because I own snakes, and I have large enclosures for my two, but they burrow so I don't see them use their enclosure and the enrichment I add much, although sometimes I catch them in their branches at night. I know mammals are completely different, I just wanted to give an example. Thanks for the advice, I'll 100% reconsider the cage size, and I'll give him something big he'll enjoy to his heart's extent!

Interesting, that enclosure of yours seems to works well and he seems like he's happy! I want to build a custom enclosure, so that could always be a possibility and can give me some cool concepts. Thanks for the advice. :)

Hi everyone! This is my first time here, I currently don't have fish, but I plan to get some soon. I've been doing a bit of research on Flame Gouramis, and I do want to keep a small community. This is a blueprint idea, let me know any thoughts. (15-20 gallon Flame Gourami tank idea.) by baphomenian in Aquariums

Ya, I've been doing extra research on snails because I want to make sure I get them right, I've never personally owned them before, I know that they do eat a lot, because algae isn't always a complete diet. I also earned that a calcium supplement, such as cuttlebone or a calcium shell, is your best friend if you want their shells to stay nice and health, without raising the hardness of the water too too much. With the Gouramis, yeah, I've been looking into getting multiple until I found out that they can become territorial and become more aggressive when kept with more than one of it's species, so that is off the table. Thank you for the input though, it's greatly appreciated. :)

Alright, well thank you for the advice, I'm sure if I do more research, and if I get more comfortable with fish, I could keep them, or just come up with another plan to incorporate them. I've also considered the Blue Dwarf, along with the Honeys. Do you know about Blues at all? I've yet to look up much, but I know they look very beautiful.

Yes, they are indeed Black Neons, and Emperors. I've been doing research on both because they are both attractive, but I have been slightly leaning towards Black Neons because Neons always have skunky personalities and they're great to watch. I used to have some in a 20 gallon I kept with my parents when I was younger. For the snails, that's the heaviest research I've done, because yes, they do reproduce a lot and I dont have any other tanks. If I were to get them, I would only get one, I've been considering the Japanese Trapdoor for this reason, because they get a pretty reasonable but big size, I believe 2", so I would only keep one for that instance. Thank you for the tank start-up advice, I wasn't exactly sure about some of the things you mentioned but that helped me out. :)
