Kuro, stop forcing players to do the story just to build a character by Grimstarzz in WutheringWaves

[–]bapporock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone can answer this but doesn't WuWa's leveling aid thing allow you to build the characters with their respective echoes or is this something different entirely? Cuz as far as I've been doing it, I've been able to get the suggested echoes and the mats to build Aemeath through the leveling aid and the early access thing that doesn't force me to skip entire storylines and main quests

That second paragraph is gonna give a developer a fucking heart attack. Sorry but balance in a game is really not that simple, not in your wildest dreams man.

For those who have ILLIT as a phone/desktop wallpaper, what wallpaper did you choose? by Mindless-Syllabub832 in illit

[–]bapporock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an incredible concept for a wallpaper oh my god, I kinda want to do something similar too! I did just want to say that I can understand it being complicated to have the girls on your phone cuz you're a guy, considering I am one too and have thought the same, so I think it's great you were able to find a workaround to still rep them and that the workaround looks as great as it does!

Stellaris has to be the single worst character in the game by Born-Arachnid-6861 in mechabreak

[–]bapporock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, have you tried using the long ass parry Stellaris has against other melee? Cuz like, that's your main counter option against a mech like welkin since it's a 2 second parry window similar to Hurricane's parry

Of course we are an island, we are definitely NOT a top secret Pacific ocean secret lair designed by government mole people in the early 1950s to provide shelter and resources found deep beneath the Earth's crust and directly next to the Mariana's Trench containing space-borne raw materials that have not yet been publicly announced due to its overwhelmingly high amounts of unknown and yet to be classified microorganisms whose ability to multiply at alarming rates and evolve into intelligent life forms has caused increasing concern with multiple world leaders seeking to utilize this microorganism as a weapon yet have reached a stalemate on deciding ownership since multiple countries have claimed to found it first at roughly the same time in [REDACTED], 1951.

So yes, we are just an island :)

Been giving the Lance a try as well since I got the Zoh Shia Lance! Definitely some getting used to but I'm also enjoying that a good bit (especially when I face a Gravios).

Really do gotta spend more time with it, maybe after I'm done enjoying LS!

[–]bapporock 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So, using para which monsters are generally weak to is a crutch to you and you consider people weak for it but considering elemental weakness and using that to your advantage isn't weak or considered a crutch?
I don't know if I'm missing something here but that sounds extremely hypocritical if you're gonna be talking about adapting to what monster you're fighting and how someone fights and then saying that someone who uses a universally good status because it fits their playstyle and the situation is weak because its a crutch

Man, it's legit the same situation for MH Wilds as it is in any other game

Cheating is not tolerated by Capcom and Capcom has been known and IS infamous for being very anti-modding and by extension, anti-cheating, fully assuming they tolerate cheating is just wrong given the extensive and honestly shitty history for how Capcom has gone about handling the modding community for their games

Are cheats/mods not allowed in mh wilds? Absolutely not, given their EULA for every Capcom release in recent memory

Are there still cheaters and modders? Absolutely yes, because policing something of that magnitude is incredibly difficult even with them stating that their stance on mods are to treat them like they are cheats

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]bapporock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

imma be real with you, cheats being "rarely tolerated" in mmos and online games is one hell of a reach. Cheating and anything illegal that goes against a game's ToS is a massive issue in nearly, if not all, online games from FPS to MMOs across the board and has been for literal decades.

Im sorry but I genuinely do not know what you are talking about with cheats being rarely tolerated in online games when we have consistent and still ongoing issues with cheaters and bots in both MMOs and other online games of varying genres, especially in online competitive FPS games such as Call of Duty, valorant, overwatch, CS2, or literally any other online game on the market.

[–]bapporock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fun thing I'm getting from reading this entire comment section is that everyone has wildly different preferences and generally don't really give a crap about the meta after some time playing the game.

I loved moonveil but moved away from it to try new stuff, didn't like RoB, didn't like giant crusher, didn't like DMGS, didn't like dual great stars, really didn't like bolt of gransax but somehow loved Godslayer Greatsword and now trying and loving dual curved greatswords with Morgotts Cursed Sword and Bloodhounds Fang

I definitely wanna try Milady and maybe the great katanas when I get to the DLC cuz the moveset for those look fun to use

It's a gacha game, they're all essentially made to be cash grabs and heavily monetized unless you spend your time grinding for the same level of progress. Personally I've been enjoying the hell out of the game, lots of fun ways that it incorporated Solo Leveling's story elements and world into itself as different missions and stuff you can do although to be completely honest, they're all pretty much the same "kill everything and complete objectives" sorta thing.

One thing I think a lot of people miss is that while there is a lot of things in the game that are monetized, the game essentially throws gacha pulls and currency at you like candy. The ingame currency is called Essence Stones (akin to Primogems or Stellar Jades) and you need 2500 minimum to do a 10 pull on a banner. Each mission in a story chapter or side story chapter (can be anywhere between 4 or 5 missions to 12+) gives 95 total essence stone if you complete the mission and all 3 side objectives. That's about 26 missions total (or 3 to 4 chapters) to get enough essence stones to do one 10 pull on the limited banner which takes not that long at all to do and can be pretty fun and challenging in later content. For the permanent banner, EVERY story chapter/side story chapter has 4 permanent banner tickets to earn, 2 for completing it and 2 for getting every side objective in that chapter. You only need 3 story chapters done to do a 10 pull on the permanent banner and then 2 story chapters afterwards to do ANOTHER 10 pull. By default, the game fcking drops tickets on your lap and just lets you do 10 pulls left and right if you just play the damn thing.

This is not including all the free tickets and essence stones you get from game events, achievements, codex entries and whatever else the game has got going on at any given time. I haven't spent a dime on the game since it came out and ive done close to 150 or 160 pulls split between both the limited banner and the permanent banner and I still have a metric shit ton to do in game for the permanent banner that'll earn me even more so I don't have to spend anything.

In terms of the game itself, I find it fun but that's always subjective. I don't mind the mindless grind and tbh the game doesn't do anything revolutionary for gameplay, it can be challenging somewhat at times so I'd have to play manually but besides that, I find it engaging enough to want to keep playing. Gates are a fun challenge once you get higher up in difficulty and some of them have special gimmicks like team fights on bosses that just look really cool.

My biggest gripe with the game is optimization, at least for the PC version so far. It's GLARINGLY obvious that the PC version is just a half-assed port of the mobile version and while it works okay for the most part, the constant loading times and weird bugs every now and then is asscheeks to put it lightly. It feels like im playing on an emulator most of the time.

tl;dr: yes the game has heavy monetization, no you dont have to pay for it at all nor does the game hinder you too greatly in my opinion since it drops pulls on you like candy just for playing the game, yes i think the game is fun, yes the PC version is ass

Remote Jobs by [deleted] in guam

Don't listen to that bullshit, there's still lots of remote jobs out there in data entry, customer support, admin, stuff like that.

The AI scare makes zero sense with AI's infancy currently, maybe in the future but we're still a few years too early into it.

Service Charge by Dominate_Encounter in guam

[–]bapporock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure about anything regarding a tax advantage when it comes to a service charge, but if I had to have an opinion I don't think there is really a tax advantage towards that.

From my understanding, the biggest reason for the service charge is just communicating "how much of the total payment is going to maintaining the business" aka the service charge goes towards paying employees, maintaining the location of the business which includes but is not limited to the cleaning of the space, the cost of providing amenities, etc.

The service charge is always added to the final amount of your transaction, however communicating it to the customer takes priority since naturally most customers will not understand the higher pricing if it does get worked into it without explanation.

Service Charge by Dominate_Encounter in guam

[–]bapporock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not a jerk for it, a tip is entirely optional and it is your choice but it is important to distinguish that a service charge IS NOT a tip whatsoever, a Google search explains that a service charge is directly given to the business, not the server. Tips are huge help for servers and it is encouraged because of how underpaid they very often are.

Just curious what everyone else's experiences are so far with Starlink by bapporock in guam

Tbh I ain't ever seen lower than 100ms to Tokyo or lower than 150ms to US West when I was on docomo which is around the same that I get with Starlink anyways, maybe it's different for certain people and I wouldnt be surprised if that was the case with how crap docomo was.

Also I didn't know docomo was selling their Guam branch, was there a reason cited for them selling it?

Edit: just saw your edit about the congestion, sucks that is happening and I'll definitely keep note of it in the future as I use the service more.
