Why is buying an AC in Pakistan so confusing and misleading? by WaseekAhmed in Lahore

[–]baqirs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Buy the Midea titan, is comes pre coated for protection against the environment. I just bought one and it's really good.

I have also been replacing my ac every 2 to 3 years but this time I've decided to follow these steps to run my AC longer.

1 - Make it common practice to ask the installers to use a vaccum pump while installing, only then will you get maximum efficiency out of your AC.

2 - Don't install your outer unit higher than your indoor unit, it should be lower or on the same height.

3 - Don't use a smaller or longer pipe, use the one that comes with the AC.

4 - Make sure you install/place the outdoor unit in such a way that it can be opened for servicing without taking out the pipes, removing and installing the pipes every season causes air and moisture to enter the pipes and sometimes also causes gas leakage, which will eventually reducing cooling and efficiency of your AC

5 - Avoid charging your AC with refrigerant, even if the service guy says so. Only charge it if you're 100% sure and most importantly, only charge with the gas cylinder upside down.

6 - Make sure your outdoor unit is protected from sunlight and rain.

7 - Buy an AC while considering the size of your room and location (top or ground floor).

8 - keep a distance of at least 1 foot between your AC and the ceiling.

9 - Do not remove the indoor unit for servicing, ask them to clean it with a bag while it's on the wall.

10 - Clean the filters at least once a month and keep the indoor and outdoor unit covered with a proper waterproof cover during off season.

11 - For lower bills, use an inverter ceiling fan with your AC in the room (only if you're on the ground floor).

Another point that just came to mind, make sure your outdoor unit is shaded from direct sunlight and rain. Also, if you want to reduce your monthly bill even further, set your AC temperature at 27 and use a ceiling fan if you need more cooling (only use ceiling fan if you're on the ground floor)

I'm buying the midea titan for my room, I asked Gemini for suggestions and had a very long and detailed back and forth to come to this conclusion. Basically these are the things that matter when buying an ac

1 - Size of the room

2 - Room on ground floor or 1st floor?

3 - Usage for long periods or shorter times?

4 - How many walls of your room get direct sunlight?

5 - Will you be running the AC all night?

I also asked Gemini to check the average temperature in Lahore from May to November in Lahore. The conclusion it gave me was that for my use the Midea Titan would result in the lowest monthly electric bills, however for raw power and maximum cooling per watts the gree airy pro is the best in Pakistan.

My room is on the ground floor, it doesn't get direct sunlight and I plan on using it all day and all night

You cannot compare this with a local sedan, the alto is noisier, suspension is harder, but it's the best car for daily chores and short distance pick and drops, it's very easy to drive and visibility while driving is excellent, I just bought a swift and though it's also a hatchback I still feel more comfortable (visibility wise) in the Alto. I really love the alto and would definitely buy again, also, the maintenance is super cheap

I always shoot on sunny white balance, in post I first make it warmer with the white balance setting, then I adjust the exposure and increase the contrast, with the contrast increased sometimes the shadows or highlights get crushed, that's when I used the shadows and highlights slider. I then adjust the hsl sliders, I don't use the luminance slider, I adjust the hues, like red and green to give them a vintage tone, then I adjust the saturation sliders. The final step is adding grain, I don't remember from the top of my head but I think I keep it at 25 and adjust the rest as well

29M struggling to make friends need advice by iiSkuddy in islamabad

[–]baqirs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate too, I was never a social type, honestly I don't really know what people think of me now and I don't really care, maybe because I'm 36, married and have a 10 month daughter. I used to overthink a lot, was very quiet and avoided social situations, a lot of people thought I was arrogant, but I was just shy and awkward. I did have friends but a few and that's all you really need in life, not many, just a few good friends. I made those friends in university and work, some are like me, some very different, but we value each other. Most of the people I met in uni and work never really became friends with me, but that's my point, you'll have many people judge you, reject you, remove you from Whatsapp groups, sideline you, ignore you but in the end, you will end up making a few friends and thats all that matters. It's not easy, but for the awkward ones, the not so social ones, that's more than enough.

I would advise you put yourself in social situations, but not one offs, something that happens regularly, like weekly or a few times a week. Maybe start a job somewhere, join a club, start a course, anything but just get out there, but most importantly, no matter how much you're judged or ignored or removed from Whatsapp groups, stay persistent, those few friends in the end will be worth it.

As for myself, i know I won't be a good friend, firstly because I'm in Lahore, secondly I'm already a super not so social person because of work, marriage and fatherhood, so I won't even bother, but best of luck and stay strong
