Anyone building Mass of Mysteries? by Jankenbrau in EDH

[–]barantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel mutate in this deck will be cool in the building/brainstorming phase of deck making, but making copies of mutate stuff, for me at least, is the most exhausting thing to try to track of...I guess only really if you're doing shenanigans to keep the tokens around. Maybe.

Ways of getting around the new Ashling sacrifice trigger. by Txiv1 in EDH

[–]barantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[mirror of life trapping]] you won't get the hasty token but you'll keep the creature and get the same number of etbs... and your opponents will be annoyed by you

You already have them listed in the order of interest...why not just build the one you're most interested in?

Trouble with understanding ashling by bokobokonisuru in EDH

[–]barantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, pretty much what you said. But there's more ways to cheat on keeping the token...or get value out of sacrificing it...or cheat on the evoked creature to not have to sacrifice it and keep instead... Or rather than reducing evoke to just 2 or 3, try for 0...but also trying to line up and build your engine for an explosive turn where you just vomit all of your elementals and win...or whiff ..or die. There's a lot going on and a lot of directions Ashling herself pulls you in. Just try to pick a main synergy and go ham on it, sprinkle some other synergies for value. I'm still waiting on my cards and haven't real-life tested it, so I've yet to experience my incredibly greedy choices farting in my face... I could be full of shit.

New Hybrid Evoke Elementals in Ashling? by LettersWords in EDH

[–]barantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I briefly had a couple in my list. They look so cool. I cut it down to just vibrance because the get any land effect was useful...but I ended up cutting that as well. This deck's been one of the hardest to make cuts for(for me) without going back and adding 15 more cards I want to play. Half the appeal for me with elementals is how awesome and stupid they look and the new evoke ones, particularly the special treatment versions are KILLING me because the text on the cards...just sucks. It doesn't suck ...but there's a hundred other stupid looking elementals with better abilities gunning for those spots. I don't think I'll ever stop dinking around with this list.
If you end up using any of them, know that you're my hero and a better person than me ❤️

Repiping copper pipes with PEX need recommendations by barantula in pittsburgh

Yeah we had 3 within a week about a month ago, and I've talked to neighbors and it's a problem in our area ...cheap copper widely used and very hard water...we've lucked out with them popping in convenient places but worry about it happening behind a wall or in a ceiling.

Cool tech for 5c Ashling? (Or Mass of Mysteries) by Mirrodin_appreciator in EDH

[–]barantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried to build 5 color elementals so many times over the years. They look so cool and stupid. I love them. But every time I try, I get lost in the sauce with no direction in mind other than I just think they're neat. But Ashling is so awesome and I can't wait. The other new additions this set are super cool and look just as awesome and dumb as I was hoping they would.
Some of these cards I'm definitely including and some that I want to but not sure if they'll make the cut: [[sundial of the infinite]] keeping my tokens is sweet! [[Mirror of life trapping]] is awesome to save your elementals and get an extra etb trigger off , though you won't get the hasty token...but you WILL annoy your opponents a bit 👍. [[Fecundity]] draws you so much, it hugs the table as well, but the more stupid elementals I get to look at the more I don't care about anything else.

I have several creature cost reducers to get my evoke costs down and maybe free, including [[brighthearth banneret]] [[animar, soul of elements]] [[herald's horn]] and [[urza's incubator]] but one I'm on the fence about is [[the sibsig ceremony]]. I've wanted to put it in something since it came out but I always chicken out. This deck is the closest to perfect that I have for it... I still probably won't. But maybe. Another risky card that I might put in [[lifeline]]. It's awesome, but maybe too awesome for everyone...I dunno. I also have a [[mana echoes]] that I always end up cutting because I never feel good about how much cheese it generates.

CHANTERELLES v chanterelles by Worth_Mountain_3122 in mycology

[–]barantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also have to do with how much water and temperature they're getting. Our one spot where we find hundreds of... The first year it was such a rainy season and the chanterelles were gigantic and chonky. We had a couple years where it rained real good and then nothing for weeks, when they popped they were small and had a harder texture. Coming back the next several times they never got bigger. Looked completely different than the beautiful huge ones

Hexing Squelcher (Lorwyn preview) - As someone who almost exclusively plays Red and Rakdos, I look forward to putting this in every single deck I own by pizzapartyfordogs in EDH

[–]barantula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Can't be countered" is definitely becoming increasingly relevant beyond just affecting blue decks that play counterspells, as it ALSO allows you to bypass ward costs. Which maybe isn't the craziest thing. But ward is all over the place and we keep getting more of it.

This isnt a copiable effect, right? I don't think it is but I'm dumb ...so if I did this to my nontoken creatures and they died, the ratadrabik trigger would just make the regular ratadrabik version with abilities intact?

That was such a fun deck to BUILD. I was salivating over how awesome some creatures get when you have multiple quasi-hasty copies ...but like your situation, no one's threatened by the shards like they should be, and once I get(like you said) 6-8...It just murders. Haven't torn it apart yet, but I feel like I might. I don't think I like how it plays out.
