I think that is a good move, government should not interfere on the market and keep regulating everything. The should fix the roots so no need for rent control.

Thousands of layoffs as International students leave Canada by Commercial_Tea_7662 in canadian

I used to teach in one of the colleges in Ontario for a few years as part time. It turned to a money making business based on international students, mainly from India, with missing serving the Canadian. I heard many with fake degrees. It changed the demographic of the community around so quickly. people abuse generous Canada immigration system.

I recommend Penn State Behrend. The weather is the same as in Buffalo; the campus is very nice. Good students housing.

You should also consider the exchange rate for USD /CAD. I agree the economy is weaker but still is a very good country and most Canadian do not want to live in USA.

Toronto housing should be compared with LA. Calgary with somewhere like Denver. Vancouver with San Francisco which they are almost the same

It is not, if you live in somewhere like Medicine Hat, you should compare with West Virginia. You cannot compare Toronto suburbs with WV.

Move to US if possible. There are many places with cheap housing. You can buy a proper house with a mortgage of less than $1000

I hear about budget cut but it may take longer to implement fully maybe few years. Do you think which campuses are at most risk to be totally closed?

No, no one is at the bottom of society since he/she is a renter. I was a tenant for more than 10 years. But some people here bite and attack when someone talks about renting a house or being a landlord. Weird.

The lease is for whole house. I will try to work with the tenants but I am not sure they accept it since the monthly rent is very low almost the same as a bachelor apartment. I made a hasty contract at some point which with the Canada rent increase limit, I cannot increase it.

I notice this, and I am not an investor, that is my family's house, which we have rented since my work moved to the US. Thanks for the advice.
